MR Build a Small Model Railroad

I was at the grocery store and I saw this special issue and peaked inside to find the Juniata.  I don't know if it has any new material or just a rehash of previous articles but good for Dave none the less.

Your grocery store carries model RR magazines?  That's cool!

Ours does, too. MR, MRC, Trains and some of the MR quarterly rags like this one. There's enough railfanning activity in our town to move them.

Of course, but I wasn't really shilling for MR, just wanted to give Dave props even though he's not here to see it.  :P

I don't think so... I seem to recall reading something about MR owning all contributions indefinitely, basically they bought it from you the first time...  :|

While MR owns the content and can use it however they choose, I do believe they will offer payment for subsequent publication. I have a vague memory of receiving a small check when my White River and Northern track plan from the 2000 issue of GMR subsequently showed up in their 102 Track Plans book. I don't recall, however, when I received the check--or even if I did, for that matter, as my memory could be faulty. Getting old sucks.

That's promising news hopefully Dave gets some compensation...

Is it just a reprint of my GMR article or is it new stuff?  Paul Dolkos took more photos than made the GMR article.

I saw it at the King Soopers at Woodman and Academy if you want to check it out.

I won’t have a chance to pick one up for a few days.  In the meantime, though, if someone could please tell me what’s in there I can speak more intelligently to Kalmbach.

Without digging out the GMR to do a side-by-side, it appears to be an almost identical, word-for-word, reprint. Not going to say there aren't different pictures though, but the article even included the sidebar on Lewistown station,

Thanks.

I want to say they bought the article from me which means they own it and can reprint it.  I’d be up in arms if this were new stuff but I’m pretty sure they own the original article.

I’m just happy Kalmbach is using N scale material!
