Well, I'll bite. I put my brand new Athearn Challenger to good use.
Here it is in early morning on the westbound Pony Express at Drawbar Flat, in the heart of Cajon Pass, circa March 1947. It was scheduled to come through here about 4am, but today, it's running a few hours late...
Good times...

Earlier this week I got a sweet deal on one of Bluford Shops' N Scale N&W transfer caboose in Pevler Blue.  Bluford Shops did a really good job on this car!

Today, I went to visit my dad at the Pawn Shop he works at. While he was busy helping some customers, I noticed something behind the counter.  All the sudden I felt my eyes widen when I realized it was an original Southern whistlepost! A few minutes later, and I had whistlepost! Thanks Dad!

I'm led to believe it came off of Southern's line from Knoxville to Middlesboro KY since that is the closest Southern line to the pawn shop. There's still at least 2 Southern style whistleposts along the line in New Tazewell so there's a good chance it's from that line.

Well, here's the 3984 Challenger again, heading back east the next day with the Pony Express on the 2.2% grade at Pine Lodge, doubleheaded with an FEF-3, both in Two Tone Gray. Probably never happened quite this way, but if it had, what a sight it would have been!!! :o
Loving it,

Free-moNebraska is set up this weekend at a small town train show and I'm excited to finally get to operate the new yard and lead extension modules! (shown below with white fascia)

That’s not Minneapolis! That is the MNNR line off Transfer Road in St.Paul. I believe the TCMRR Museum has relocated to that very same spot.

I've never seen Tonka railway equipment, but did see a Ford/Tonka pickup the other day.  I had to Google that one, but it turns out that Ford actually sells them that way.  Learn something new every day...

Milwaukee Road Sleeper Minnesota River is still on the rails to this day although in orange/maroon/black paint. Last used on the Pioneer Limited along with sister car Zumbro River.

Corrected and beefed up the details on the EMD journals.

Also drew this:

It's a bending tool for the fuel tank piping on some SW1200 with the large tanks.

I have no idea if it's going to work... :P

Still have some details (shades, antenna mount, cut levers) but wanted to get a coat of primer on the CF7 while it was nice today.  Might be able to get some color on it tomorrow.
