In addition to the CF7, I tore apart and stripped a SW1200 shell to model GLTX 98, which is a plant switcher at PH Glatfelter in Spring Grove, PA.  This unit has sill mounted handrails, so out came the pin vise and drill set.  This is a first time for me doing something like this.  GMM sanctions and .008 phosphor bronze wire.  Should be fun  :scared:

Wow! I also have an SW1200 about at the same point as yours but have not drilled the stanchion holes quite yet....

Looking forward to seeing your progress! :D

Back in the summer of 2015 I started building a kit for a North London Railway 4-4-0T, #109. After a putting together most of the major components I realised that it would be far better to use a nut instead of a screw inside the smokebox. The screw that holds the front truck on could, and should go upwards to meet a nut soldered in place inside the smokebox. Unfortunately, the screw was soldered in and I couldn't reach it with the bodywork in place. So I unsolderd most of the bodywork and removed the screw. Then I got distracted by something else. That was in the spring of 2016. This week I dug out the kit and started working on it again. I rebuilt the chassis with new wheels, rebuilt the body, and a few other things, so now the model is roughly back to where it was 18 months ago.

Hopefully it won't be quite as long until it gets some more attention.

OO gauge?

Close, it's P4. Same scale, different gauge.

There's more in the layout thread: https://www.therailwire.net/forum/index.php?topic=43020.0

Got that set of new switches and double tracking laid in and then I could run trains again! Therapy! So, here's video of the layout to date. Excuse the mess, but it IS a construction zone!
Northern Pacific in the Badlands, in N-scale of course!

Good work everyone! Looks like Weekend Updates should become really interesting as the modeling season begins anew. Today I ran the largest steam locomotive at Cedar Point, George R. It weighs in at 28 tons and was built by Porter in 1941 for a Pennsylvania lime stone operation. I'll soon return to my Bellevue NKP yard layout, since there is some rain forecasted for northern Ohio this week.

(Attachment Link)

My dad worked there summer of 72'... his only day off was when I was born...

My dad's favorite locomotive to run was Albert.. a 2-6-0...  it was very smooth.. a plantation engine...  He also ran the Jenny K (named after superintendents wife) and the Myron H. (Hendrick)( named after the foreman)...  those were 0-4-0 tank engines... with tanks removed and tenders built for them and a pilot added....   work done by Plymouth locomotive works...    pilot was put on by a welder in Lakeside....  Apparently the Albert is now on display at Cedar Point... possible cracked frame or cracked axle...   maybe you know...   they likely don't need it... so they don't work on it...

the George R. was named for the president/chairman of Cedar Point...

technically the CP is  narrow gauge railroad... so ...   I think technically anyone who works there can join the Narrow Gauge Society... lol
