Spent most of the week updating my 3D files to print under the new Shapeways pricing.  I have 6 different items on order, hopefully I'll have something to show on those in a couple weeks.

A new project I picked up since Atlas finally put me out of my misery on my NE5 caboose project is a 19000 gallon tank car.  The CGW used these in different company services.

I jumped the gun on this a little to see if it was even feasible.  Going to clean it up today and get some paint on it.

Also put together a decal sheet that should yield me a lifetime supply of N scale Lucky Strike logos.  Included on the sheet are NP decal for the 52' flat that I hope to offer as a kit.

OK, well, the worst (handrails & stanchions!!) is over on this CR N9E one.

Man, what a kit.   I'll be finding pieces that flew around the room on this one for years.

Bought a Big Boy.  Was able to find a non-DCC 4014 with oil tender, I plan to install a LokSound.

Jason:  I also hope you can offer that NP flatcar.  Modeling the early BN I can use several of them.

I think it'll work out.  I redesigned it to accept a tungsten rod on the center sill which will hopefully take care of the weight.  I can also go to an etched deck if I need more (right now it's just .020" scribed styrene).   Unfortunately it's designed only for the True Scale Coupler right now.  I may need to bribe Mr Bussey into showing me how to design for a standard MTL box.  No doubt that would get more people interested.

So I got some paint on the tank car to see what it looked like without any work done to smooth out the surface.  I have to say I'm encouraged.

The next design probably won't have the band on the top (I'll probably have a recess for an etched band to sit in) so all the round surfaces will be able to get sanded without obstruction.

I'm kicking myself for not at least putting the coupler pockets on before printing.  :x  Need. More. Patience.  :P

I've got multiple projects going as usual.  A while back I got some of Jason's MT tru scale coupler pockets.  Haven't done much with them all yet but I decided to start with a car that could definitely use a new coupler pocket.

I plan on adding scale steps too.

I've also done some drawing for my B&O/BM 4-8-2 scratchbuilding project.  Here's what I have so far (partially inked in for clarity).

Aaron, that looks nice.  Try a black Sharpie before you paint.  It soaks in pretty good and you don't need put paint inside the pocket where it could foul the coupler.

Apparently, my five-year-old daughter, Aly, has become impatient with my progress on her layout, so she has begun finishing it herself:

Made progress on some scenery along the right of way. Then weathered the bridges and figured out how to place my new NJI semaphores.
Got stuff together and this is the first train! It appears to require a bit more track cleaning though...
Northern Pacific in the Badlands, in N-scale of course!

The pic is orientated right on my phone, I uploaded it and it spun. Either that or I put the flooring on my wall...

I like it!
A Thomas train set with Annie and Clarabel would also look good on that layout.
