My first introduction to BLW was the paper listings in the mid 1990s. My friend who got me into N scale had them and I was spend a lot of time reviewing them. I think there was a mail in auction at some point too?

I use BLW's new items page too. There are 2 other websites I've had the habit of reviewing frequently:
http://www.nscalesupply.com/Newsletter/CurrentNewsletter.html
http://wig-wag-trains-cart.com/latest-news

For actual N scale arrivals for scale, I like MTS: http://www.modeltrainstuff.com/N-Scale-s/3.htm

Thanks, Ryan. The re-introduction to N Scale Supply is appreciated. I used to check them out years ago when I was first getting into N, but I don't think I ever ordered from 'em. I like their newsletter format, as well as the "pre-owned" section.

MTS tended to get most of my purchases that didn't go to BLW. But no pre-orders, right?

Ugh, it drives me nuts. With the exception of MBK, all of those sites look like they're 12 years old, at least.

You can, but you must work with customer service to do this.

How about a little trip down the memory lane?  :)

Peteski--Saw your last name on the BLW address label.  I went to high school with a Theodore Wisniewski in a Chicago suburb with a fairly large Polish population.  Jak sie mas!

My first order from BLW was for the Con-Cor Alton Limited in the mid 1980's.  I recall being nervous sending a check that large to a dealer I had not purchased from before.   I also won several items on the snail mail auctions he ran.

Here we are 30+ years later and I have a Kato Hiawatha reservation with him.
Best regards,

Roger

Thousands of ultra low volume SKU's,  pre-ordering  --->  nightmare scenario

Tell me about it! Remember, I built this: https://web.archive.org/web/20050420084706/http://modeltrainstuff.com

But it's now 12 years after that. That's a long time to have not progressed.

I'm not saying I want a real time inventory system, but I'd at least like some reassurance that the site owner understands contemporary things like credit card security (and doesn't do things like store them in an excel sheet).

I know!

Looking at it now, honestly, I still have to say it was pretty decent. Tasteful, contemporary (for the time), and pretty well organized, considering the TON of content under it.

Does anyone know if Pete has a layout, or personal N scale collection...

To think if he saved one of everything over the years.... That would be an amazing collection..

This is the oldest issue I have. I've got 20+ years of these archived, up until Pete retired them. They are good for historical reference.

I like to think that I helped Pete with his retirement fund over the past 28 years !!

I'm guessing that many of us have! (of course, maybe he is now helping our retirements by removing some spending temptations)

If you're listening Pete, thanks and best wishes for you moving forward!  I'll look forward to that Hiawatha as perhaps the last true BLW reservation.
