You know, I'll miss the "New at BLW" tab on the home page of the website. I stopped by damn near once a day or so to see if anything new was listed. Other than the manufacturer's posts often linked to here, it was the easiest way to keep up.

Does another retailer provide a similar listing? (Pete probably got about 80% of my on-line purchases because of it. Well, that and the all-around great service and exceptional pricing.)

My first introduction to BLW was the paper listings in the mid 1990s. My friend who got me into N scale had them and I was spend a lot of time reviewing them. I think there was a mail in auction at some point too?

I use BLW's new items page too. There are 2 other websites I've had the habit of reviewing frequently:
http://www.nscalesupply.com/Newsletter/CurrentNewsletter.html
http://wig-wag-trains-cart.com/latest-news

For actual N scale arrivals for scale, I like MTS: http://www.modeltrainstuff.com/N-Scale-s/3.htm

If ever there was a case to be made for a website having a URL name and a proven functionality that gives core value to the business - that's it.

If his brother is merging in or assuming part of it, he's be rather foolish not to keep that part in full operation.    I find it a lot more user friendly that most other e-tailers, particularly the built-in google search that can find stuff that's been discontinued even if it's no longer in the direct flow of things.

I will miss Pete too (been a customer off and on since the early 90s).

Enjoy your retirement Pete! :D

How about a little trip down the memory lane?  :)

That's awesome! Exactly as I remember it. Probably the same vintage too since it was 1992 when I first found N scale.

Have to agree with the others, loved the website format. I was one who also checked several times a day to keep up with what was new, and what was available.

I tossed most of the BLW News booklets, but for some reason I kept few and that I think is the oldest one I have.  You got to love the prices too (both for brass and for plastic models)!  A 2-pack of Con-Cor "electronics" vans with tractors for $7?  Nice!  The mini-reviews and hints scattered throughout the booklets were cool too.

I also have few of their monthly catalogs (somewhere). If I find one I'll scan few pages. For now, how about an invoice?  :)

And we didn't know about the new models until they showed up in the hobby shop or in the mail-order newsletter. Well, there were some manufacturer's ads in the hobby magazines but no Facebooks, Tweeters, or online forums where manufacturers would be announcing new models and directly communicate with us mortals.  Good ol' days.  :)

:(I won several items off BLW Auctions including a couple of Brass Locomotives that I probably over bid on. Yes the paper newsletters I still have a few stashed away. Brings back memories. He named it Locomotive Works because he did build some custom locomotives in the early days as I recall and advertised his service in I believe the N Track newsletter. Then he expanded into a dealer. I have a custom decorated Atlas Reefer celebrating his wedding. Yes one of my main suppliers will be greatly missed, but I still have my other huge source of supply Chuck at Feather River and there is Kleins and several other sources out there and heaven forbid at a high cost from manufactures like Bachmann. Nate Goodman (Nato). Salt Lake, Utah.  :(
