Have you ever considered doing the C44-9W, specifically the NS version?

It is probably the single most common locomotive of one model in a single set of paint schemes in the US (or maybe the BNSF C444-9W?) -
and of course you've got the hard part (frame) done....

I think a lot of folks would buy a bunch!

Any thoughts???

It's settled.  His production schedule is now set for 2017-18

Everything is available to make the SD70M-2 (Trainworx sells the parts set). That is an easy job for a modeler. The -9s should also be able to be made from Kato parts too. Don't any of their 6 different -9 bodies work?

The GP50s can also be made using the old Kato shell and dropping it on an Atlas GP40 frame.

How about an SD70ACe-T4 or an ET44?

Kato did this engine once upon a time, though not in NS I don't think. Get an undec and black paint.

Single largest fleet of engine in one road scheme is the UP SD70M fleet I believe. Or it was at the time the order was placed.

I'd love a Tier 4 GET from FVM. FVM = Future Valuable Models. C44-9Ws are so 20th century.

There is a couple on a Facebook sale site.  Original buyer backed out so now guy has 3 (I think) to sell.  He has moved the headlight from the nose to high. Asking $80 per shell

I believe UP placed the largest single order for SD70M units...

in 1999, Union Pacific ordered 1,000 SD70M's from EMD. This was the largest locomotive order in history.

Actually, no....not for a completely accurate BNSF unit. IIRC, there are different lengths of lovers below the radiator section than on any of the Kato offerings (except for I think their AC4400CW) and I believe there are one or more x panels on BNSF units than are available on the Kato shells. This plus the 4 window cab (which was included on the most recent Kato offering but good luck finding one of those shells!).
