If someone ever produced a NS Dash 9 they would have plenty of paint schemes: NS white stripe, NS dashed stripe, Whiteface, Horsehead, Primer, OLS, and maybe some foobie N&W and Southern schemes too.

Everyone makes valid points and yep I have a number of Kato C44-9W's (headlights uncorrected) which I've painted...

Also, Kato could do it - they did BNSF and SP/UP specific versions AFTER the initial releases.  I like the FVM DCC plug, but would be more than happy with Kato.

The point is:  really common locomotive, time for a model to be made of it....

FVM had a sample of a SD 70M at the same show when they announced the SD70ACE if I remember right.

I have moved the headlights on three Kato shells and have two more to go.  I am glad I ordered my last two shells now that the most correct Kato shell is out of stock (Part # 921345).   Luckily I have had good luck moving the headlights and using Kato parts to get the light pipes to work properly.  Kato did offer NS painted shells in the original run but they had the incorrect nose headlight.  They show up on Ebay and receive several bids.  I recall someone made the correct NS Dash 9 cab for a Kato shell but I don't remember who it was.  The one I saw sold for around $22.00.  I just saw a new undecorated Kato 921345 shell sale on Ebay for over $50.00 so I can see why someone would offer a converted shell for $80.00.  I agree that there is a lot of demand for the NS version of the Dash 9.

Yes, that was my recollection too, along with an 70M-2.  I talked to Matt via email at one point and he indicated the SD 70M-2 was in his plans.

Maybe before Fox Valley did a Dash 9 they could do a NS ES40DC with a high headlight (Dash 9's and DC GEVO's share the same cab window/door arrangement) and NS ES44ACs with the different nose door variations.

While I gladly take UP C44-9Ws and rebuild them to NS ones, I wouldn't mind some proper Dash 9s made. It sure would save me a bunch of time.
