Looks great, Dave.
That first picture was a bit deceiving, but the sky color really is a fine choice.

Ah ha, yes Dave, this photo says it all. Now in perspective i like it And it doesn't look too blue at all.
Having a problem looking at a blue sky at the moment, two tropical storms on the way down here, saw a cloud formation that looked vaguely like your poop pipe though 😊

@Steveruger45

Whoa!  Stay safe and good luck with the storms.  The poop pipe cloud formation description seems apropos- I hope it doesn't get too sh!tty down there.  ;)

Dave,

I think it looks great, you've done a fantastic job on this layout.  I always like it when people "discuss" the color of the sky.  The sky can range from a deep purple at sunrise/sunset to an almost white, depending on the time of day, the weather or the season.  Like I said before I've never been a fan of the small "loop of track" kind of layouts but you've knocked this out of the park, even if it is populated with deseasels and Amtrack (yucky)  :trollface:  You really need to get this into one of those "Small and medium sized layouts you can build" books.

I guess if you're looking west, "Utah Sky" is what you'd see.

I went with Behr's "Nevada Sky," because I like UFOs and no-fly zones.  :lol:

Someone once asked for "Washington State sky" and was directed to the grey paint section.

It's only gray from September to June!  ;)

Not much to report on, except a little terraforming, now that the layout has been put back into place with all of the staging yards reconnected.  JFRTM.  At least I didn’t get any lightweight spackling on the backdrop.  :P.  There will be a highway bridge crossing the mainline that curves back towards the trestle.  If you look close you might be able to pick out the flat areas where the road approaches to the highway bridge will be.  Oh, and the three screws visible in the backdrop will be hidden by trees and foliage.

I was showing my handiwork to my wife, and she commented how she liked the backdrop but the water in the lake was still brown.  I told her it’s all about the perspective.  She’s about five feet tall, so she couldn’t appreciate me explaining how the blue was reflected off of the water’s surface, considering she couldn’t see what I was seeing.  So, I took this picture from my angle, and she got it.  I love it; this is the look I was going for!

Pretty cool, but, admittedly, I’d have to install a ceiling and paint it to really get the effect from all angles.
