These make me so sad that the tooling being used hasn't been updated! I'd love some of these cars, but just can't get past them being squished.

Sux about the FEC car Ed!

MTL's FMC 5077 Plate B car is correct for the single door (025) and offset double door (030) versions, but a bit squished on the Combo Door (026) and Plug Door (027) versions, which in real life were only built as Plate C (taller) cars.

I agree . Great paint on a crappy model..or, lipstick on a pig..If MT would just tool up NEW versions of the 50 foot rib box, and those awful "PS-1" cars (40 and 50 foot), I would be buying MOST of the weathered releases, which seem to focus on those exact cars...But collectors don't care much for scale fidelity

Seriously, MT, just RETIRE those toys already...A new underframe will NOT be a good enough fix for those who know what's actually wrong with those cars..

OTOH, MT's newer tooled models are quite nice, and to scale..(just to prove I'm not anti MT! )

The original hopper was built by Magor Car Company. The MTL model looks close enough for me.
