A last weekend look at CGW 1000 progress.  The blue-ish parts are ones that won't be printed but made some other way. 



Hopefully I will get my Shapeways order soon and can get back to coupler pockets.

Wow!  Makes me want to model a city! Hmmmm....there WAS a Greyhound station in Ogden in 1952, near the station too!

Along with some work on my ever evolving switching layout I set about weathering my NdeM MP15.  Trucks were dry brushed with AK tints, followed by several coats of clear Micro Flat with more tints stippled on.  I also used their oil stain and dark rust for accents.  I was surprised it ran after all the painting...but it did

The N-Trak Roadshow was once again present at the Hamilton & Ancaster Model Train Show, in Ancaster, Ontario. Circumstances were such that we were running with a very light crew, but we still managed to get the layout up and running with minimal delay.

Using @Big Train's new N-Trak to FreemoN modules, we were able to have a fun setup with the main N-trak loop and a remote yard on the FreemoN branch. While some of our members preferred to rail-fan the racetrack, others were able to shuttle cuts of cars between the branchline and the main yard. Here, my 0-8-0 running tender first was approaching the FreemoN junction with a yard transfer job:

Later on there was a spectacular crash with a modern freight train heading into Algoma Central territory, but the evidence was quickly cleared before anyone could snap some pictures. Here is that freight, a short while before the accident:

One unexpected find at the show was a pair of Intermountain CPR F units, at a decent price. These will get a full detail package and will be put into service on CPR's most glamorous trains. The shops will be getting these locomotives in tip-top shape for that one particular special that will be heading north of the border shortly.

The shape of the wheels, the amount of separate details on the trucks, the amount of detailed printing on the builder's plate, the level of detail in the latches, and the very thin handrails all seem to indicate an H0 (or larger scale) model.

Yep...HO.  I am working on this in N scale too, but it's really difficult given the size.  I took the trucks from our SW 1500 and made a mold and cast them in tinted resin so I have something I can get paint to stick to. I might have better success with that then the Engineering plastic.
