Yes, I thought so too, an interesting bit of SoCal history. I was actually inspired by the attached photo of a UP freight on the east side of Cajon taken in about 1947. A TTT helper, with an early Challenger road engine! I almost missed the buses...
I only wish I had a better quality photo.

Received 75' worth of backdrops from Trainjunkies.com this week.  While he sells his own backdrops, he also does custom work - in this case panoramas I took during a August 2015 trip to Oregon Joint Line territory.  I got extremely lucky in that the printed backdrops matched my existing scenery pretty well.  I used some test prints to adjust the hue, contrast, saturation, etc in Photoshop in an attempt to match the scenery, but you never know about the quirks of individual printers.  Of course, it would've been far easier to match the scenery to the backdrop, but it was a bit late for that.  And then there was the issue of trying to squeeze the backdrop between the existing scenery and the backdrop Masonite - you can see some exposed blue foam in this photo from the damage of that process.  This scene is on the Oregon & Northeastern logging line between Scanlon Yard and Mile 5 siding.

Might wye turnouts be a better option for the two turnouts that are off the mainline by helping to ease the sharp radius on two of the sidings?

I have been considering a wye turnout for the second one into the lumber loading track.

Jason, I'd be in for a 1000 shell if they were available. I've kicked around building one from scratch on a LL SW chassis (don't know if the wheel base is right) but never got it going. I built this instead. Not sure they would have run together, but who knows?

I don't know how the 1000 project is going to end up, but I'd certainly let you buy whatever you think you could use.  The idea is to make a core that can be sanded smooth and then add whatever details you want (mostly rivets).  The radiator section will be all printed and hopefully look decent painted black. The doors and window frames will be separate pieces (so they can be sanded smooth too) inserted from the back.  Not sure yet what to do about the radiator shutters or screen.  FWI, the truck centers are exactly 2" in N or 26' 8" on the prototype.   I really like this Tomytec drive for this project but haven't tried to cut the mechanism down yet.

CGW 1000 was the switcher in Winona MN.  Don't know that I've seen a shot with a caboose and I don't think I've ever seen a caboose assigned to Winona.  I would have to doubt they ran together, but they'd sure look good together!

And no it wasn't me that got MS to do the caboose (and passenger) decals.

I have figured out a reversible way of mounting True-Scale couplers in cars with integral coupler boxes. It's very simple, details to follow.

Work continues at alray. Eastbound main line is laid from pine lodge to the alray tunnels. Also worked on a little scenery. Im not sure if i like the profiles of it yet.
