Not from MBK.

You can, but you have to work with customer service.

Well I finally got hold of a live human there named Vince. Very nice, very professional. Looks like I missed the boat but they will get back to me with information on reorder availabilty in a couple of days.

Several months ago, I tried to pre-order the MTL PRR heavyweight passenger car runner pack and was told by the MBK customer service agent that I had to wait until the item appeared on their website.
Is there a different arrangement for Intermountain products?

If the item has appeared on the site and then sold out, you are able to submit an email notification request for when the product is back in stock.  For initial appearances of an item, there no longer is a provision to be notified.

Well, this seems a lost cause, no luck there.
Does anyone know of anyone who has the UTLX cars in stock?

I did get my TEXACO car, and it's an improvement over the initial runs. The long horizontal handrail is metal, I mic'd it at .013, not bad for a mass produced model. Everything else seems the same, other than the body mounted MT? couplers, and metal IM wheels. The placard holders are also installed, a nice touch.

Pics below, including one next to the original car complete with its thick and broken plastic handrail. It would be very nice of Intermountain to make the metal handrails available to retrofit our old cars.

PS: the older black car has FVM narrow wheels under it....they look better under tank cars and other highly visible installs.

Sent you a PM with a suggestion for a dealer to try - but no guarantees.

No.  There aren't any UTLX in this batch. It's a run of different names.

The thread is about the Intermountain tank cars, not specifically your quest to obtain the UTLX versions.

But going fast, at least the UTLX. They sold out within a few hours on the Model train stuff website. Glad they are back and with metal wheels.

My apologies. I have deleted my post with the link to the next batch of IM tankcars because I erroneously posted it in the wrong thread.

I appreciate you pointing out my error  :ashat:

No problem Wes, thank you for your comments. If I seemed zealous about the UTLX cars, I have long been interested in getting "boring, black tank cars" which ruled the rails but which the manufacturers seem to disdain in favor of multiple versions of showy and colorful tank cars, some protobased and many foobs. We can buy unique chocolate and wine and other unusual cars in the colors of a rainbow, but everyday workhorses which constituted the overwhelming majority of North American tank car fleet are hard to come by. In a way I'm glad the UTLX cars flew off the shelves, maybe now the notion of a tank car block that doesn't look like a circus train can happen. Please?
Kind regards, Otto K.
