I came back to the latest MR in my mailbox with the cover photo and a nice bridge article by @mark dance.  Great tips for bridge building and some super shots of his own examples.  Congrats Mark! :D

Got mine today.  I did get the time to read Mark's article, and it is really a nice piece.  It explains his motivation for designing and building his own bridges, along with parts/materials/services sources, and his techniques for assembly.  Nice writing style as well.  It preserved some human personality besides just conveying the model building.  And that lead photo... holy cow.  No wonder they put that on the cover!  It's a great photo!

Just went to the MR website to see the cover; very nice!

While there, I couldn't help but notice one of the articles is about upgrading a "plaster" freight car... :)

I don't seek out MR often. But I'll have to go find this one.

Gotta chime in here with congrats to Mark too!  Excellent article, which gave me a few ideas about my Weber Canyon bridge projects!  Excellent photography also, which compliments and emphasizes the fabulous modeling.  N-scale done with the "Little trains/big prototype scenes" philosophy that is so rarely present in MR...

Fantastic cover shot and you've done a service to the entire scale by planting that flag there.

And it's a great article.   Our firm does railroad bridge engineering and I find myself increasingly intolerant of bad bridge models in all scales, particularly things like missing abutments, bridge shoes, etc.   Nice job.

I picked up a copy of this issue, this week. Superb article that I really enjoyed reading. That cover is superb - easily a favourite.

Each time I read about something he's done on the Columbia and Western I'm reminded of how impressed I am with his approach to layout construction or just working in N scale, in general. There's some really, I think, modern thinking going on here. In the bridge article, for example, I'm thinking of the blend of good old fashioned scratchbuilding combined custom etched parts and CAD designed pieces.

Inspirational as always.

I think this sums up Mark's approach to the hobby quite well.  Just imagine how lucky I am to live a mile from him; to operate on the C&W; and to have his input into my layout design and implementation.  It's invaluable!

Just don't tell anyone that more than half of his fleet still has pizza cutters! :D

Hopefully Central Hobbies still has this issue in stock.... I haven't seen it yet.
