I recently shot a new photo of my paint-out GP9 for a conversation with @wm3798, 7182, and figured I'd share with the class.

I'm thinking about adding some PC era yellow handrail ends instead of the white ones. What do you think?

Yeah, it might be. Sadly, I inherited it that way from where I got it years ago.

Why not strip & repaint?

It's not like the PC paint scheme is all that complicated (thank goodness or I wouldn't be able to do it! ;))

Honestly? Because I hadn't thought about it. I actually haven't run the engine in a while, and if I'm going to get started doing something like that on it, it'd be getting a decoder at the same time, but then it'd be skipping in line.

But it's a good thought.

Yellow handrails? Absolutely!

While you're at it it needs an ACI label, Sinclair antenna (one of the odd floating ones) A rusty bare metal Sunshade on the engineers side like this or this (also note how the one screen is plated over on both those units)
and if you really want it to pop you need some Penn Central bleeding through  8)

These early Conrail paint outs are awesome! Nice job  8), Ive been wanting to add more early high hood gp's to my fleet I have several shells this and Amatos LV units are getting me ready to want to start mine.
