I know this will get some of your attention.  Looking thru new MT June newsletter, they have 2 different SW1500 parts kits, one with arch bar trucks (AAR trucks, not arch bar.  Will leave original remarks for comic relief), others with flexicoil trucks.  Includes all parts to make a complete shell, for $19.95.  They also have listed seperate flexicoil side frames for $1.95/pair

Are they bringing back the 30 y/o Helium car?

I'm in for a couple truck sets in case my MNS bug bites hard again.

one with arch bar trucks,

Now that's a new one on me... never have seen arch bar trucks on any diesel-electric locomotive.  I believe you mean AAR-A trucks.

Yeah, that's what prompted the question.

It would be nice if they could produce a new car, probably expecting a bit much tho...
I'm surprised Roco is still making them...

That's for the SW1500 "on blocks" scene in your engine shops - the arch bar shop trucks!

...

30? More like nearly 50! I bought my first one in 1969 or 1970. According to Spookshow, Roco re-ran them for E-R Models in the '90s.

So I guess given a 25-year gap between runs, they're due, and it's MTL's turn. :D

Wow!  The heluim car (especially its shell) is rather crude and thick by today's standards.  I have one of the original ones (IIRC sold by Atlas) and the ER rerun.

I'm also surprised that Roco is producing them, since after the Roco-Fleischmann merger few years back Roco seems to be out of N scale. Well, some of their models have been sold under Fleischmann name, but not many.

Oops, a little misstep on my part.  I read AAR and typed arch bar

I wonder if the car is repainted old stock. Not only is the car long gone, but Rock too. With Hornby as dire as it is right now... I just don't see then making the 100 or so cars that would be needed for this run.

I'm guessing there should be at least 1 more "0" on that.

I sure hope they don't ship the SWs in that blue - that will be a pain to cover in white paint.

Anyone know what the difference is between the version 1 and version 2 shells?

Huh?  When did Hornby buy Fleischmann/Roco?  Are you maybe thinking of Rivarossi?

AFAIK, (as I mentioned in the post above yours) Fleischmann/Roco are still doing well.
