Lots of smaller projects were completed on the layout including building the small extension that is home to the turn out to a future yard.

Sam added his final 40 trees, 4" to 6" pines that filled in our canapy quite well. This young man is an excellent tree maker and the work he did really shows.... Here we have a GP on a van hop and a glamour shot of an FP7A that was leading a passenger consist past a wonderful reproduction of one of the original "Canadian" posters.... thanks to Dan for the poster....

I've now reweathered ten Gunderson chip gons and have them rolling really well.... big suckers.....

Go to any mill back in the day and you'd see competitors trailers. They's have brought pulp, occ or dlk, or were there for a pick up. I've made four different sets of decals for Canadian Pulp and Paper companies of the day....

The furnish receiving area is home to Gunderson chippies and trucks bringing OCC (Old Corrugated Containers) and DLK (Double Lined Klipings - corrugated plant waste) as we see here there is a large assortment of furnish waiting to be loaded including off spec rolls that will be pulped. I modified a Toyama fork truck into a roll clamp truck for moving roll stock.

Finally; this building, a very special tribute to two special people.... here's the story....

One Christmas night a long, long time ago three guys, comfortably stuffed with turkey and the trimmings stole away into the darkness and landed at a local pub which was, inexplicably open on that winter's night. A pint of friendship and a shot of cheer made that a night never to be forgotten by this modeller.... One of those fellows is gone, but most certainly never forgotten and the other has been a steadfast and god-sent supporter through my last year and a half of struggles... To GO-GO I offer my humble thanks and to Simon I tip a "modelling pint" to your memory..... Our lives snapshot... in 1:160 scale.... now let's hear some gritty blues if you will......

I'm struggling right now with affects of the kidney issues and cancer; I'm learning that my life is all about balancing goals and desires with ability and pain management.... I only say this to illustrate that so powerful a draw is our hobby that even when you're down and out you can still rise up and get some joy out of life by modelling, running a train or just hanging out with some savvy modellers like we have here..... ;)
Model railroading isn't saving my life, but it's providing me moments of joy not normally associated with my current situation..... Train are good!

Mike, that layout is dead sexy.  Knowing that you're dealing with all that you're dealing with makes it all the more spectacular.  I'm looking forward to seeing your reports from the train show...

You have CN cars on your layout ?  What's next?   A Go Habs poster ?

I went to a local narrow gauge show. It was small, but mostly all narrow gauge. Took pics, but not in their own album. Start here and click next about 52 times:  https://picasaweb.google.com/ErieChris333/HOn30#6263600686970929538

I did notice loads of details that were dust free and more than that the colors were as if no dust was ever on them . How did he pull that one off ?

Hmmm...did you elevate the uphill ramp of that bridge to slant uphill? Or it looks flat, not downsloping...

Elevated the right hand (as you are looking) side slightly.......

I'm sure they take care of them. I mean if I was taking something to a show I would dust it off  ;) Funny thing as I was talking photos of one diorama the guy came up and just spun it around and sort of tossed it down and said don't be afraid to touch it. He said it made it all the way here in the back of a van, you're not gonna hurt it. I was afraid to even breath near it.  :-X

Experimenting with metal wheelsets.  I have a pack of Intermountain 33", and also got a pack of FVM 36".  Had the IM wheels in some Exactrail cars but they were not free rolling.  I think the FVM axles are a hair shorter (.540), they are installed and cars roll very nicely.

Also tackling 3 Lifelike SW9/1200's and putting decoders in them.  I have a DN126M2 going in one of mine, as it is now extra from the MT1500 that ended up with a TCS decoder.  Other 2 are getting DZ126 decoders as the LHS did not have TCS Z2's. Also have to figure out headlights, not a lot of room in those units.  Have LED's from old DC boards, might order some SMD's and hold off on final shell installation if I do that. Hope to have pictures by the end of weekend.

Kind of a slow Weekend Update - maybe everyone is watching tall men in shorts walk from one foul line to another after endless time-outs?
