I've been busy building and installing trackside details like derails:



I've also been recreating the unique "advanced" signals on the sidings at Cliff and Bealville (shown). Since the ends of these sidings are around blind curves, these advanced signals were installed about 1000-1500ft from the end of the siding to allow downhill crews to know what to expect around the corner. If a train is lined out the end of the siding, the signal shows green; if not, it shows a flashing red indication. These aren't terribly useful on a model railroad, for obvious reasons, but it's still cool to see them in action!

Will spend the weekend messing around with JMRI and Engine Driver.  Might go to LHS and get some more flex track, at least finish the siding at Emory Grove then I could interchange with Maryland Midland.  And deal with eBay buyer who after 5 days, 2 contact emails and sending an invoice, has yet to pay or acknowledge any of them, which will probably result in a negative feedback for me and his remains at 100%.  I think I remember now why I quit selling on there.

I also received two decoders in the mail today, so I set out on installing them.  I took my Reading (NS) unit and popped the shell off.  Surprised to see a decoder in there already !!   Happiness is finding out you have one less decoder to buy    So back on went the shell, I grabbed an AC4400 (UP) and SD70MAC (CSX), installed said decoders and all 3 were programmed with JMRI.  Total time spent for 3 locomotives ?  About 8 minutes.

Made some progress on the CNW box car side.



I think I'm done with everything that I can mirror over.  Not much more to do than the door stops and tracks.

I'm not sure if this will print as designed even though it always passes the check at upload.  I'm holding to the .1mm x.1mm detail specs in the X and Y but trying to cheat that on the Z which is supposed to be 16 microns and I'm no where near that at the .002" I'm using on some of the sheet metal details.

We'll see what happens this week when I send it to print.

Had my first go at etching handrails; messed up the measure in a couple places 



I've got some more parts I need to etch, so with the adjustments, I'll make enough to do three more GP18s.  NS often ran three or four locomotives on the head ends of trains 63 and 64.

Those look quite fine John. So that's a Life-Like/Walthers GP18? I have one undec that is in a partial state of detailing...any chance you have an extra set of handrails that I could buy off you? I have 3 Atlas GP9s but those are probably a different pattern. Nice work!

Andrew:  Would it have been easier to paint the post white, wrap a strip of masking tape around it, then paint the black?

if you scroll east a bit on that bing map, you can still see the footprint of the PRR roundhouse that was in place when the PRR had their, or one of their yards at this location on the Panhandle Line from Columbus to Pittsburgh.  Here's a look at the overall area from Columbus Railroads site in 1949

That probably WOULD have been easier!  I will definitely try that next time around.
