Turning a Bachmann 2-6-0 into a HOn30 2-6-0. The real SR&RL 2-6-0 were outside framed like this:

The Bachmann driver are the correct size and the odd spacing is also correct. Since I'm freelancing and HOn30 is 6" wider than the prototype I'm going inside frame.

Oh and while working on these Bachmann 2-6-0's. One has a slight wobble the other has a very bad wobble. I took the drivers apart and put in Kato mike drivers with the Bachmann gears back in. It ran silky smooth. The axles press into the drivers with a plastic bushing that gets deformed easily. Thanks Bachmann

Trying to overcome the arthritic hand issues and detail one of Prairie Shadows (Jeff Arnold) special run Intermountain F7a rebuilds. I have an A B pair and want to use them for a CN - CP transfer job. So far I've changed the horn to a 3 chime Nathan, added the antenna, roof mounted bell and made some custom sun shades. Now I'm adding the missing ladder rungs to the nose.

Next I will add the cooling coils and winterization hatch to the roof and a non operating rear headlight. I plan to weather the unit like a image I have from 1975.

I picked up a Digitrax DB150 with power supply on eBay for almost half price, hopefully will have layout back up and running by next weekend.

With no power to layout, I turned my attention to painting some track, with in turn moved to weathering some rolling stock.  I didn't go hog wild on them, mostly just some road grime on trucks, fuel tanks and lower portions of cars.

Took a few moments to drop a replacement motor into my old Bachmann F unit.  I wonder if this one will last 17 yrs?

I worked on several cabin cars, finishing this one.  Its a Bowser with Trainphone antenna and other details added and weathering.  Goal is to match several prototype photos relatively closely.

Whoa.... Chris, is that body from scratch?   That cab is amazing.   I love those louvered panels below the windows.

Daryl, very very cool! I dig those wide cosmetic curves, and the straightaways....not something often seen on model railroads. I'm also wowed at the speed this is coming together, wow. Another great railroad in the making!
