I've seen the ad.  It's for real.  An N scale PRR K4s in four different road numbers (two pre-war; two post-war).  The good news is that they're advertised as shipping now.  The bad news is that the MSRP is $399.00.  That seems high, although that is somewhat mitigated by DCC and sound.  Congratulations to the SPFs!

I would buy from Bachmann before I would give a cent to BLI arrogance.

I made a PDF of the ad page but I have no place to post it.  If someone does (assuming the Kalmbach IP lawyers don't mind) I can send it someone to post.

I'll risk it.

A few points and some questions:

1. We hear all the time that a manufacturer has to announce years in advance to a) avoid competition that would adversely effect sales b) secure preorders to help ensure a profit.  This release isn't like that - why? The Arnold SW-1 was announced like this, too.  Is something changing in the business?
2. How could this have not leaked out? How could all the Pennsy modelers in the historical modeling groups not have known?

The only answer I can come up with is "because it's Bachmann."  Bachmann is the biggest kid on the block and they can pretty much do what they want, when they want.  The batch size of a Bachmann run alone speaks volumes...apparently they don't feel tied to the pre-ordered limited run sales model.

Oh happy day!

You won't get any pushback from me on it being Bachmann.

Bachmann is the real heavy-hitter in N scale steam and their recent releases have been pretty amazing.

They actually deliver product and they do it quickly.

They have been doing the K4 in HO for years and have all the tech specs they need.

Yup, glad it's Bachmann!

No, not yet. The inevitable griping and complaining are still to come. "Why did Bachmann do this? Why didn't Bachmann do that..." and so on.

Now as SPF's go running wild into the streets screaming and waving.....don't get hit by a car.  It would be a shame now that our lives have changed for ever.

It will also be an interesting race to see which arrives first - the Bachmann K4 or the BLI M1a.  :o

What a day- K4 announced, market drops 500 pts, any reports of hell freezing over?

Regarding the stock market, K4 imports should prop up the Chinese economy.  Stock market will bounce back on Monday. They will call it the K4 effect.

Now we SPFs have to start asking for a ready to run I1.  We are an evil greedy bunch.
