Just working on a couple of NS uints:

Chris , I don't have to tell you , you're a know it all  . Decals , like flap jacks , can be flipped . Not ideal but it will work .

     As Saturday train day at my place consisted mostly of hooking up CAT V cable, I later got an urge to run big power. So out came my UP doubles. U50C #5025/GP30/U50C/SD24B leading a merchandise freight passes a DD35A/DD35/GP9B hauling a cement train out of Victorville.

     Another heavy merchandise crosses the deep canyon powered by C855A/C855B/GP30B.

     Later a priority pig train with the standard DDA40X/SD40-2M/DDA40X on the head pass a lesser rack train with a new GP40X spliced between the big DDA40Xs. These brutes are the only reason I also model the UP.

Who made the models of the double  diesel units? They are addicting if you like UP!

I took to the water yesterday, paddling 5 miles in the kayak (2 around and up, and two down and back) so I could get 228 photos of the RockTenn  paper mill at West Point, VA. 1 mile of paddling to fish. Lots of detail shots, and I hope some overall shots I can import into GIMP  and stitch together to make a 10 foot long backdrop to place behind all this.

I've been in full out roadbed and trackwork mode. You could say it's about getting laid in the basement.

Track has 3 levels (mainline on 1/2 piece of HO cork, passing siding on Woodland Scenics foam bed, and mill track age at zero elevation), and I may go 4, as I am thinking the main mill spur would probably have some roadbed, though the individual spots for cars would be flat. Oh, and the mainline and passing siding curves are super elevated.

I have a bit more to do laying out the turnout configuration for the spurs into the warehouse building. Not looking forward to hooking up all those lead wires.

Progress on a pair of PRR FM flatcars outfitted for LCL container service.  Flatcar is a Red Caboose shortened to 40'  Containers are printed from Shapeways.

     I made them all. Back in the 80's when I became Jim's N Scale Shells. My first scratch build was the DDA40X on a stretched lifelike chassis. It was so very wrong I had to completely redo it. I ran it until the Bachmann came out. It's paint, chassis and drive was crap but the shell was decent, except too wide. So I cut the cab off took some out of the center. Cut the sides off and took some off each side of the top, and reassembled to make a really good shell. By this time I could do molding, went into business and made a bunch. I put these on stretched Minitrix U28C chassis, which were good for the time. I later put them on Stretched Atlas U25B's with RSD trucks.
     The second Bachmann DDA40X release had a slightly better drive but a worse paint job and still way too wide. The most recent has DCC a good drive and improved shell and paint, but the handrails are wrong and the truck side frames look like crap.
     I made the big Alco's while on cruise the 84' USS Enterprise cruise. They're on U50 Chassis but before the internet there were only a few pictures to work from and I made a lot of mistakes. They're crude by todays standards but like a lot of women, they look real good from a distance. I'm building a correct master for those now, it'll be Kato quality.
