I've been cleaning and working on the "N"ormal scale layout for the last week or so.This pic shows roughly 21feet of cleaned ready for more work layout. 
   



Another 4'4" of cleaning and the whole 25'6" will be ready for progress.Still leaves roughly 36' of layout to clear the junk off of.

My parents are in town, and my dad and I got a couple of days to work on the layout. We got the helix bench work cut and installed. Now it's time to start on track.

I and sooooo jealous.   Nice Helix.   

I'm stuck just custom painting and detailing things until I get back to the states and even then won't be able to build a layout because I know I'll just have to move again in 2 years.... 

I haven't gotten much done lately...side trip to Kuwait slowed me down this time and then I have another trip back to the States scheduled in 2 weeks.  Oh the joys of flying back and forth over long distances...

The locos look great Brian!  From the grass is always greener dept., I wish I could be doing some loco detailing & painting myself, but all efforts (such as they are) must be focused on layout infrastructure still.  Here is an update on the beginnings of the "Vortex:"
 


I call it the Vortex because no track that enters the footprint of the Loop shelf leaves without making at least one loop through it.  There are five loops to go, but at least a lot of tricky design and base construction are behind me.  More in the Tehachapi BC Engineering Report coming soon.

Work on the basement is progressing nicely. About 2/3rds of the walls have been framed out and insulated.

I did get a very interesting package from eBay on Friday. The auction included several Alan Curtis and N Scale International 28' pup trailer kits, both of which are long out of production and very hard to find. I started building a few up to add variety to the endless lines of Athearn pup trailers.

Not sure what train length you are running sir, but that S-curve at the bottom could be real trouble. Beware! Don't ask how I know that.

This past week was the annual IBMA get-together; second year in Raleigh. 




When I wasn't out bluegrassing, I did some more work on the 3D model of the parts I need for the NS 2-8-4 project:

Well, regular resin molding season starts up for me next week, clear the decks for action.

Last custom build of the summer got done, a client request for a 13-tonner.    I'm stoked about the Atlas Shay coming out for another run, because that single-handedly fired up N scale logging like never before, and my Climax A's get the benefits as well.
