Handsome?

Reading Railroad's only "famed" streamliner was the Crusader. The train included a rounded observation car on each end so only yhe engine needed to be turned. The tender featured a concave rear wall to accommodate the curve of the observation...


They also had a few semi-streamlined Pacifics. With their European appearance, they resembled B&O engines like the Lord Baltimore and some of the D&H locomotives. Hard to be pretty when you're sporting a huge Winton fireboxe. Still, to Reading fans at least, they made "handsome" engines...

    pretty sure that is a "Wooten Firebox" for burning Anthracite "Culm Coal".
   Winton was an Engine supplier to EMC that built both Gas and Diesel Engines,
    bought about 1930 by GM ,later combined into EMC.

Maybe unique, maybe designed to make a point, but short of "handsome."  T-1's are.

Handsome is perhaps the wrong word. To me these are more feminine in appearance. With their thin, light rods, tall drivers, flanged stack, and "shiney bits", they are too well dressed to be 'handsome'. Nickel Plate berks are handsome.
Who doesn't like a well dressed lady? The big firebox is perhaps a "personal preference".
