Traincat - chlorine car - still working on the cylinders

I have one of those (unbuilt). One of these days I'll make some decals for it and get it built.  I'm thinking of making a master pattern and resin casting the the cylinder ends.  Another project waiting for a round tuit.

I used TruColor paints and Microscale decals for both.

Well still no Atlas track so just more bench work. Almost done. Only 3 feet and a drop in to build.







I am starting to draw the center lines on the layout. At least I can lay some cork until I get track.

I would highly recommend working on a ceiling while waiting for the track. I would hate to see a shower of dust on your creation.

I cannot install more than cardboard for a ceiling in my basement.

No pix, but I have been working on the Flag Center and Staging modules for the C&I Sub.  Some of the track is now in its final position; other parts of it are temporary, awaiting delivery of back-ordered material.  I am now in process of wiring the tortoises for the switches that are in their final positions, and laying out the control panel for installation in the fascia.  Once this is done I should be able to run some trains into and out of the (temporary) staging.  I'll put up some more pix when all that is done.

Busy weekend

Saturday, visited a local layout (NMRA openhouse) that was N&W themed from the 50's

You might really want to take a look at the Armstrong fiberglass suspended ceiling panels in conventional suspended ceiling frames.  They are very lightweight, soft and flexible, and you can pop them in and out with literally no clearance at all above them, unlike conventional hard panels.   They are removable so you can get at all that wiring and utility stuff above them.  I've been using them for years in a very low-clearance situation and highly recommend them.  They help heat, keep out dust, are fireproof, and take an enormous amount of abuse on popping them in and out for maintenance issues.  My suspended ceiling frames are about 1/2" below the joists.

When I've popped mine out I'm always appalled how much dirt they've caught from coming down on the layout.
