I have a ConCor PA mechanism under my Erie-built shell - would that work?

I'm sorry Dave, I'm afraid I can't do that.

Quote: Now I need to find frames for my Eriebuilt shells. I can't just cut the DL109 frames to fit. The wheel base is too long. The odd length of these loco's makes them unsuitable for anything but DL109's

I've used the plastic frame Lifelike PA mechs under the V-line Erie built shells. The nose weight just need to be filed to fit and the trucks look pretty good.
I'd be interested to see if anyone has used the newer LL, Kato, or BLI PA mechs under the V-line shells.

Model railroading isn't saving my life, but it's providing me moments of joy not normally associated with my current situation..... Train are good!

I wouldn't worry too much guys.  Out here in Toronto we have accepted that the Leafs will pretty much never fail to....  fail, yet we still pay the second highest ticket prices and the highest concession beer prices.

You'll be celebrating our demise soon enough.

Go Leafs!

Great scene Chris, that is really well done.

I spent the day railfanning in Switzerland.  So much awesomeness. :D

I've been working on an ex CR geep. The details are pretty much done...... just need to clear coat it and start the weathering process.

did you forget the sunshade on the conductor side or is that a Conrail cost cutting measure?

I haven't posted in a long time.  Most of October sucked with being in the hospital 8 days with cellulitis of the right calf followed by 10 days of outpatient visits for IV antibiotics.  But now I am much improved and working on a new project--building Pete Nolan's kit for the Harbor Cruise ship.  I started Tuesday and have made a fair amount of progress so far.  There are more pictures on the Harbor Cruise thread.

Here it is so far.

After I install the other side the addition of the top deck will square up the sides.  Then there will be fun installing Pete's beautiful etched metal railings.

My front yard is the other thing that made October end on a much better note.  Fall in Illinois makes up for the hottest summer days and the deepest winter snow.

Best regards,

Roger

Actually NS added the one sun shade, CR didn't have them on most of their locomotive fleet. It looks kinda lop sided with just the one though. lol

I have used the Life Like and Con Cor PA chassis under V Line Erie Built Shells and they seem to work just fine. Mind you I have not had the chance to finish off the models.

Still updating at a snails pace but working none-the-less.  Applied some bushes and hand placed static grass as well as some more rock on the rivers edge.  Not sure how I feel about the results so far, but I'll keep plugging along until it feels right.  Already stripped this area of bushes and grass a few times today.  Guess I'll just have to step away from it a few days and see how it looks to me then.

Please as always leave comments and suggestions about anything you think would make this scene better.  Always appreciate everyone's insight and expertise.

Thanks for looking.

Nothing fancy here, or finished, but a backdrop in a section with variable height where the material is part of the support structure for the upper deck required some tight tolerance work. Measuring challenges required templates to cut the backdrop material accurately.

Fitting one between two sections of deck with variations in height was tricky until I pulled some scrap paper to make height templates by folding and taping the sheets up against a too short sheet of MDF. I knew those draft copies of invitations to local leaders to be guest teachers would come in handy for something.

The result of some precision origami is this, which is the same scene with the template removed and the newly cut backdrop test fitted. It worked beautifully.

The backdrop here creates a lower deck scene that is 6 inches wide. I'll be working hard to blend 3D scenery with the backdrop as two tracks run through here.

Had enough time this week to paint and weather the concrete bridge piers (Woodland Scenics Road System Concrete Top Coat is the perfect colour), fabricate the HCD benchwork for the scene, and then place the bridge and piers in position to see how it will all look.

I have yet to install the lighting for the bottom deck so excuse the gloom within which the Beatton River scene is sitting.

David, the only way that would look better to me is if it was on my layout.  :D Beautiful work.

The only thing I'm seeing is that curved track desperately needs ballasting. Other than that it looks great.
