Not an N-scale project, but this pic does have an N-scale loco in it.   Anyways I've started a project to build a GP9 in Proto:48, thread with details is here:

Nice work Tim. I always enjoy seeing passenger car work

Here's mine. Although I don't get to keep these as I have to send them to the client that commissioned them from me.  :)

They will be going into service on his WESTERN STAR.

I managed a few minute of modeling this week while trying to clear off the workbench.

In order to do a re-trucked version of the EMD repowered RI FA, I used an IM FT-A mechanism.  Most of the work was getting the fuel tank to fit.

I'm going to try and replace the forward stirrup to an EMD design this week and then try and remember what all else I needed to do.

A couple more years and it'll be ready for paint!

I've been working on an ex CR geep. The details are pretty much done, just need to clear coat it and start the weathering process.

My latest attempt is this PRR class BP20, a sharknose Baldwin DR-6-4-20 passenger diesel. It's bashed from V-Line RF16 shells and the DL109 mechanism. While the shell is the proper length, the wheel base is not.

Frank if you try an old Concor DL109 drive you should be able to turn the trucks around which will give you a longer wheel base.

I spent most of the last few weeks working on the south end of the tunnel at Azouzetta (Mile 598) on the BCR. Rocks and Sculptamold are in place and now I have to figure out how to paint backdrops before I can proceed with groundcover and trees.

Have a great week and nice work everyone!

I am mainly trying to repair all of the holes in the walls of my son's room. I did get some test fitting of the Lower Sway Braces to the two Truss Frames in today and took two pics.

Back to the drywall . . . .

That is some outstanding scratch building Mr. Horton..... your skill and patience is truly impressive... I know you will get lots of time to work on the car tonight because your Canucks will be "out of it" after the first period of the Vancouver - Toronto game tonight so be sure to post your Saturday night progress !

hmmmm...care to show us what you accomplished during the game Mike?  Outshot 47 to 21 and a score of 4-0...you must have had lots of time to make progress on more important things :)

No modelling tonight; the Canucks were "in it" right to the end . . .  :D

Thank you very much everyone for the positive feedback on the coach, much appreciated.  It has been a very satisfying project which has taught me a lot.

Bill:  I have always admired your passenger car work and you photograph it so beautifully.

Chris:  Nice to see some layout photographs.  Looks like you are now up and running on DCC?

I had two modeling projects this week. First was helping document a potential project for TrainCat Bob, a classic Santa Fe signal bridge:

Second was my annual trip to a fave LHS. Did some major damage to my wallet, having uncovered the mother lode of unobtainium, including some Atlas C55 #10's and two bulk-packs of FVM 33" wheelsets with MTL axles. I went overboard on WOT boxcars I absolutely had to have, only to discover most were dupes once we were back home.   "Trading Post" here I come.

Been doing the same.  But white rocks and white ground are driving me crazy.  I think I am going to throw some ground cover down to lesson the glare.

I took the advice of the folks here and went looking for an older DL109 mechanism. Found I have two of them that I was using under my Eriebuilt shells. I reversed the trucks as directed and though I haven't modified the frame to fit the shell yet...

This is what the mechanism looks like disassembled. It's put together quite differently to what we have on modern frames. Apparently they hadn't come up with the simple arrangement we use today...

Now I need to find frames for my Eriebuilt shells. I can't just cut the DL109 frames to fit. The wheel base is too long. The odd length of these loco's makes them unsuitable for anything but DL109's...
