This is the type of gas used to light homes and street lamps before electricity.  Wonder what use it had in the 60s?

I know - it was used for rail car lamps at the turn of the century but 1961 ? Could even MOW cars still have gas lamps bu then ?

Switch lamps? Remote stations (N Ontario) where electricity had yet to reach?

Do you really need a reason? If you like it (and I like it), build it! Once it is in operation, who's going to know if it is right or not? Southern Pacific experimented with a fuel tender in the 1970's (a modified tank car...MT offered it at one time), I liked the idea but it was way too modern for me to run (and I don't run 'bloody nose' paint) so I made my own from a MT 40' tank painted in 'black widow' paint...nobody has ever even questioned it. Go for it...I may make one of these gas cars too.
