Finished up the Journal newsprint dock, and I am okay with it. Not exactly happy with the weathering as it seems a little heavy-handed, but this will do for now. Worked on the pavement around the Lincoln Warehouse and the Journal dock. I spent most of Saturday trying to figure out how to build a decent driveway. Finally decided on three layers of .030 sheet. One for the base. one for the sloped driveway, and one for the sidewalk surface. Some .030 square rod was utilized for the curb.Best wishes, Dave
That's some lovely background work, and a neat mix of techniques!I'd wanted to post this back during the actual weekend, but I wasn't yet a member. Oops! Anyway, I dusted off an N-scale trolley line in a laptop bag and took a photo of this key scene. It's loosely based on Johnstown, PA, and uses streetcars and neighborhood names to match. It's 1958 at the new diner and juke joint in the middle of the Roxbury Line's turning loop. Johnstown Traction Co. car 311 sneaks past the ketchup truck as the ("working" N-scale) jokebox wraps up another rock n' roll hit. This whole little layout needs a lot of work, clearly, but in time, I hope it'll compare at least a bit favorably with the masterpieces showcased here each week.-Steven
Recognize this?
Doug,Every time I looked at your signature, I thought...man, that looks familiar! Now I know why! I'm also totally stoked someone on here's been there. For the uninformed, a Sundowner is a chili cheese burger with mustard, onions and a fried egg. Best hot dogs around, too. They use Berks. I have never had a finer hot dog chili, either. It's a joint but a Johnstown staple.
