Kato get bonus points from me for this:

"Please note, as these cars are repaints of Metra cars, some details may not be 100% accurate to the Caltrain cars."

It reflects a trend that I've noticed of manufacturers being more upfront about stand-in models (e.g. Atlas with their Ontario Northland tank cars, and BLMA's "foobalicious" Tropicana reefers)

I pre-ordered mine.  Couldn't help myself.  For one thing, I took it as a sign that they don't intend to tool a proper Caltrain version of these cars.  And there are no decals available for painting my own.

If I get daring, I may attempt to add the extra windows using parts from a Metra or VTA gallery car.  The other discrepancies I can live with.
