I'm not sure what they were thinking on the car copy, I usually ignore it since they have a history of errors, and ACL's pulpwood cars looked nothing even remotely like the MTL model, but the number they used on the model is only seven slots away from the pictured car, this is definitely the prototype they were working from. I recall at one point there was a discussion as to whether or not large bulkhead flats even existed prior to the SCL merger (1967). I guess now we know.   8)

The trash train is now run seperately.  Even in this cold weather you can smell those damn containers.

Interesting, I wasn't aware of the 82' ARMN's,  the first batch seems to be built by Greenbriar in late 2012:

Tom, as you can see in Robb's photos, the TPIX cars are a foot and a half shorter - that's the biggest spotting difference.  That said, the scheme does work on this car, IMHO.

The best I can tell in quick surfing, that Tropicana tank car is one-of-a-kind. I would not be surprised if they shipped juice concentrate in it, but I am surprised that they would put their trade dress on an industrial vessel containing intermediate process. Like Bob said, who wants to know their orange juice comes out of a tank car? It's almost like knowing how sausage is made.

So, in all of this, why does BLMA call theirs a 64' Reefer?   Assuming that is simply the box dimensions?

What you're seeing, Bob, is loaded unit trains northbound to New Jersey and blocks of empty reefers southbound to Florida in mixed trains.

I guess you could call the Southbound train a mixed.  I remember they started this a couple years ago.  Apparently they make lost more money adding trailers and containers to the rear of the train.  And I've always seen them on the rear.  Either direction it's still the juice train which I've seen since the 70s and am glad that something stays the same.

P.S.  Don't know if it's true but I was told that before they shipped by train they used small ship tankers.  Apparently they lost one sometime back and switched to rail.
