Not trying to start a fight ...... but,

How come Craig gets a pass from the Railwire Proto Police for this foob and other manufactures get  slammed if they are two rivets off ?

Um... because Craig is totally up front about it. In case you hadn't noticed, he's not trying to pass this off as proto, so it's hard to find fault when it's already being advertised as "faulty."

I don't think it's a pass - what I respect is the up front - "It's a Foobie" marketing materials .. no attempt to pass it off as anything else ..   that being said, I won't be buying them - I already have a bunch of Roundhouse foobie Tropicana cars, and am slowly replacing those with Red Caboose beer car closer foobies  ...

And I am so screwed...guess I need to start saving my pennies, since I'll want all 24.  :o

While I'd prefer to have the actual car, this is an acceptable stand-in until it arrives...
Besides, who says Tropicana won't order some of these cars at some point.  ;)

I respect Craig for his honesty and doing a "really flippin neat car".......way to to man !  :D

That said; the question is still valid..... others have made "foob's" and been killed because we don't like them.... Let's be honest here A@@hats..... There is a a select group of members here that have taken being self anointed "proto cops" to a new level... nothing wrong with that if it's not done with acidity; but it often is done with an uber abundance of acidic commentary...... and thus their valid observations are lost in the noise....

I DON"T want to kill the thread so maybe we need a "Crew Lounge" thread on this very topic but hey; "we got a debate here Lucy"........

Anyway; "Kwel cars" Craig !!!!!!!!!!!!! Wherer's the vodka car to accompany them ?................ :facepalm:

I would like to see the larger BNSF car produced as well someday.

Dimensions for the BNSF, OLD UP, NEW UP, and TPIX cars are below

BNSF 82-2 long 10-7 wide 17-0 tall
TPIX 76-8 long 10-8 wide 15-5 tall
OLD UP 75-1 long 10-8 wide 17-0 tall (The 110xxx series)
New UP 82-6 long 10-8 wide 17-0 tall (The 170xxx series)

The best part of this release is the up front way in which it was presented.  I'd love for BLMA to have done the proper car, but at what cost?  Artwork is cheaper, not cheap, but cheaper then doing an all new mold.  Leaves BLMA the funding to do the XTTX 89' general purpose flatcar (the steel reinforced deck, the nailable car is for wimps.)
