Kato made a "Huge" Mistake

Is this just an issue of whether it should or should not be lit or does the body actually differ.  The former is trivial, the latter more substantial.  As best I can understand what is being said, I think it is the former.

I wasn't joshing though.  One or two sentences without the shouting would have accomplished that, rather than an entire thesis.

It would have cost more to alter the design and eliminate the lighted drumhead than to leave it as is.  I'd rather pay less for the set and make the five-minute modification than the reverse.

Points taken, and I agree with Bryan's assessment of why Kato built the model as they did.

I would respectfully offer that I, for one, appreciate fodder for a railroad related discussion and/or information on how to improve a model more than how eloquently it is presented, especially given some of the alternatives currently available.  Just my thoughts on why I'm confused about the reaction here, and the last that off-topic post that I'm going to make on this thread.

The body is different. It should not have a drumhead, just curved stainless steel sheet. But remember the car was marketed in many multiple road names by Kato originally and the different drumheads were a nice touch. I wish they changed the tooling but can't fault them for deciding not to.

I have the book, great book. while it may be an error I agree with Bryan.  I love Nato's write ups and research, but I just don't consider this to be a "Huge" mistake.........

Given that the execution portrayed is taken from an extremely popular musical, I think the intended satire is quite obvious.  I humbly submit that if you find it offensive, then perhaps the Railwire is not the best forum for you.  No offense intended.

Whaaa? Les Miserables is a musical taking place in France in the 1800s.  He was referring to the Japanese soldier about to execute a prisoner most likely in WWII. I did not know there was a musical about that. While I may not take as much offense as Gerry (don't know the guy), he does have a point and should be able to express his opinion which is no more off topic than the pictures are in the first place.
BTW: If I were Mr. Kato and I read this thread stating that I had made a "huge" mistake, don't care about my products and then show a picture of a Japanese soldier executing someone, I'd have every right to be offended.
