Holy Cow!  Feels like forever since I've posted on here.  Alot of great work by everyone this week.  Been pretty crazy with work and the holidays, but I did manage to get a little done this weekend.  I finally started the bottom portion of the right side of the mountain.  Just need to add the highlight colors and chalks.

Placement of the rubber rocks

Painted base color E/L Gray with India Ink wash

I also started to add a few grain silos and a storage area for my Grain / Feed area.  Even added the awning on the front to cover the cars.  Purchased some Gold Medal Models walkways. stairways and safety cages to add some details to the silos.  Will probably work on these this week.

Thanks for Looking!

Spent much of the day setting this thing up...

The 2013 Decoder Master 3000 Installation Verificator.

Hopefully now I can slog through this mess on my desk and get myself ready to take on some more work (and therefore some more positive cashflow!)

I went over to Gregg Scott's house over the weekend to see what was on his workbench.
Here is a Milwaukee Little Joe project almost ready for final detailing:

Pretty cool.

Andy  BCRail_FSJ,

Would you please explain your use of Pledge to make your loco windows?  I have no clue how you would do this.

Doug

It's relatively easy but can only be used on very small openings (i.e N scale cab windows)

1.  Obtain some 'Pledge with Future Shine (formerly known as Future Floor Wax).  Canadian Tire stocks it .. It is a clear bottle with a yellowish label.
2. Load a small brush with it and 'paint' across a cab window opening (from the inside ideally)
3. The liquid floor wax should 'fill' the window gap due to surface tension in the liquid.
4.  Allow to dry.  It will dry to a nice flush crystal clear acrylic 'window'

Note.   Not sure how this stuff reacts to dullcote so if using dullcote to seal  decals and weathering,  use this method after the dullcote has been applied.

Test on some old cabs first to get the hang of it.   I filled the side windows on an old RS-11 cab with it just fine.     I use it as a backup method if I either can't find, lose or damage a stock glazing part.

Scale modelers traditionally use Future for a Satin or Glass coat for decal application and/or a protective coat prior to the use of washes, and therefore go over it with Dullcote all the time.  It will not "react" at all with the Future.  However, as with any clear or gloss surface, the Dullcote will give it an appearance that you probably won't find favorable to the appearance of "glass" that you were going for (unless you wanted a frosted glass look), so you should apply the Dullcote first, just as you would apply it before installing the plastic windows back into a cab.

Wow! I would love to know how he managed to do that! It would be great to see something like this in commercial production.

It sounded like a good idea at the time... too bad the caboose wasn't in on the plan.

I agree.  I have two of Overland's brass models.  They don't track well, and the pantographs have trouble reaching scale height wire.  Gregg's pans, at least, look a lot better.  Knowing his work, it probably stays on the track better as well...
