It's getting frustrating to me that MTL and Kato, the two most dependable makers of N-scale have gone off on tangents  (MTL:  avoiding prototype schemes at all cost,  Kato:  finding the most absurdly obscure prototype schemes)

That is the best part of modelling CN- I just strip whatever paint comes with it off and do it myself.  Kato will get to those schemes you (and a ton of people) want- just keep saving!

I don't disagree on the quality, it's just that MT has a lovely 36' steel underframe reefer that would have been so much more appropriate for an early scheme meat car.... Instead they used a forty footer. Was Decker unique among the meat packers to use longer cars? Or is it just a nice looking foobie?

Otto, according to the description at the N Scale Supply (since MT website doesn't yet have the January releases), the Decker car is: 36' Wood Sheathed Ice Reefer
 

Looking at the photo and caption of the exact 1:1 car (in the Billboard Refrigerator Cars book), the real car was 37'10" long.

Has there been any word on their next new body style Heavyweight passenger car?  I'd like to see a non-paired window coach and a diner!  Wheels of Time did the baggage cars, however I know the MTL version if they did one would run better.  All of my WOT cars have required quite  a bit of tuning to get running good.  I've body mounted couplers, filed down the bottom edge of the end sill in some cases and put fox valley wheels on all of them.  The MTLs, run great out of the box!

I myself only buy Atlas and MT woodside reefers because of the working ice hatches. Thus i never install the handles that come with the MT cars.

So it only took them two months to run out of appropriate Greenville schemes for their 60' boxcar?  Do you think the artist got a tingling sensation drawing the ACF logo for the side of the GN car?  Probably not.

No Mike; he said "people will like this livery and it's highly unlikely that the actual prototype car will be tooled in the near future so what the hell; let's put an attractive livery on a car".... and people will like it and people, will buy it and that's profit for MT so that's good... and if it offends some people then we will live with it...........

It's their company - they can put Mickey Mouse on the side of a reefer if they want or the GN goat on the Greenville car.... there isn't a law against it, nor are they perverting the youth of America or Canada or any other place....

To review; Micro Trains NEVER claimed to be the almightly paragon of prototypical fidelity..... Yet you consistantly hold them to that standard... why ? Please explain it to me... because I really don't understand the consistant criteque.....

MT clearly sees opportunity in non-prototype paint schemes.  Look at all the "states"  and other commemorative cars.   Someone must buy them enough to justify releasing new ones.   As to foobie paint schemes, most of us have no clue what the difference between boxcar models are and buy what they like.  If it keeps the lights on and subsidizes new tooling, I'm fine with it.

That, and I am pretty sure those cars were too late to get Rocky.  The ends are the only thing right on that car.  Not the sides, doors, or roof.  I love Glacier green and Rocky, but I won't be buying it.
