curious about the schnable

I was surfing around the net today thinking about ordering a schnable kit and couldn't find Elgin locomotive, does anybody know if he's still selling them?

Well, his site has been abandoned and taken over by a squatter, and he hasn't even logged into RailWire in 6 months.  So it certainly doesn't look like he's still selling them.

It seems that in the past people have had the best chances of contacting him via old snail mail @ Elgin Locomotive Works, 1000 Morton Ave., Elgin, IL 60120

I bought one earlier this year. It took a while for the delivery (Mark was busy with the other projects) but the car was finally delivered in early July). I haven't assembled it yet but the parts sure look pretty good.  Back then the website was still up and running and Mark was hoping to have a Paypal payment system set up on the website. I suspect (purely my opinion, without any facts) that Mark just didn't realize how much time and expense it takes to run a business.

I was hoping for the other items to materialize (to be able to model the complete Schnabel car train) but not the chances of that happening are not looking so good.  That would be too bad.

Oddly enough I too had been thinking about a Schanbel the last few days. I hope Mark is still up for it as I had been looking at horribly Americanizing the Trix car since I found his website down.

yea I was wanting to model the whole train also, kinda surprised when the web page was gone. hope he's just to busy to keep track of it all and things are good for him.

Well, looks like ElginLoco just posted a couple hours ago plus his site is back up.

Hopefully those are good things as I'd like to pick up one of his Schnabels as well.  Not too big on the whole snail mail for everything though.

Sorry, almost forgot about this. I talked to Mark and he is indeed still selling the schnable car. Apparently he let his web site lapse but was going to take care of that which apparently he did.

Pretty sure at Trainfest he mentioned getting masters back of the flat cars recently too.

It is a part time gig for him, relax people.

I dont think anyone is unrelaxed, just happens that a bunch of people had a Schnabel craving at once and all found the website AWOL, so people didn't have any updated info. Gals want ice cream an pickles...we want Schnabels? 

I'm glad to hear about the flats. I would love to add them as well.

Good to hear that Mark is continuing the project!  I'm in for the flat cars and I hope that he also comes up with some loads for that unique car.
