Well; this is the quietest announcement of a MAJOR offering (ok, till more info, a Potentially major announcement)....

Sight unseen, I'll tip the hat to Bachmann for even giving this a go................if it's like their 44T and 90T I will be quite happy.

Hey Pud, I know CP had S-2's with the US style carbody, but I think by the time the S-4 came around they were all the MLW 'sharp edge'. Can you confirm that? I'm not up on my first generation CP diesel switchers.

I think I answered my own question... all built before the MLW carbody that seemed to begin in the midst of the S-3 deliveries.

No qualms here... Bachmann's recent stuff is pretty darn good, IMO.

Just wondering why Bmann doesn't announce this stuff on their own site?
Or do they and I'm looking in the wrong place?

I wish Bachmann could get on board with proper undecorated models though, no glue and unpainted available. Don't get me wrong I will get S-4's with minimal lettering and black stepwells, but if they are like the 70 tonners it will be a slow and carefull process to get them dissassembled for painting, and hopefully not ruin any handrails or glass in the process.

I hope this doesn't turn into a S1 . S2,  S3,  S4 debate.. I'm almost 70 and I don't care which one they make. I remember (I. think) seeing ALCO switchers somewhere, some time and I do not care which one they make.

More importantly, thanks, Bachmann. for making an N scale switcher that fits within an era that many folks model.. A very nice addition the repertoire of locomotives that has been missing for a long time in N scale.

Great news!
I'll be in for an ATSF version...
as far as the comment concerning finally getting an end cab switcher that isn't EMD...I have two Atlas VO-1000's which are pretty nice....I'm hoping the Bachmann S4 will look and run as nice as these.
