UP 5037 looks like a real monster Richie.  You've captured the look of the beast so very well.  Excellent.

Love the G32 Bryan.  Do you plan to produce any for sale?  It would be right at home on the AC&Y.

I've been modifying the mechanicals of more freight cars.  I think I have enough to support layout ops now.  I'll add some installments to the Wheels & Weight thread soon.

Bryan,

I'm assuming the G32 corrugated gons will be available from ESM at some point.  Do you have an ETA for these yet?

Thanks,
Scott

Got three different shipments of goodies in 3 days. Mr Wallet has been tired lately. Besides being incredibly pleased with ExactRails newest releases, I managed to find a used tunnel motor for a great price (on the day it was posted).

This week I journey to Home Depot for two sheets of pink foam core, so i get a better idea of how much room i can actually use for a layout. Expect a new thread in the layout engineering forum soon as well. I think 42" wide by 72" will give me room for a siding, a few industries, and generous >16" radius curves for smooth running roundy round D&RGW goodness.

Who makes that motor you used? it looks much smaller that the smallest one from the Nigel Lawton range.

Chris, that is some hard core etching there. I take it the mechinism is Marklin? Where did you get the motor? How much?

I would guess that this is a sample of things to come....

Yep.  Handbuilt pilot model, so I figured it qualified for the WU.

Nice gon Bryan.....what will he think of next....

One never knows ...  8)

Needs more Conrail, and I want three.

Conrail, what's that?

In the fall as an undec kit if the stars align and the start-up costs don't blow it up.

... We already have some eager Star Trek fans getting ready for the next movie which opens in May 2013. They are really early!

I absolutely LOVE the Trek homage.  Whenever I get moving on the layout again and start working on downtown Bridgeport, I think I'm going to have a time-traveling Kirk and Spock standing in some back alley between buildings.

I did finally give up on valve gear for it.

Modeling time is rare right now but I did manage to weather a couple of Trainman flat cars for general service on the pike...

Snap, Puddy!

My weekend's effort is a 53' flat spliced from two Trainman cars of the same number, with a new deck from RS Laserkits, archbar trucks swapped out for roller bearing ones, and a wee bit of weathering.

Here's a comparison of the stretched & weathered car to a stock model (which will get the same treatment once I finish off the first one - still need to replace the stirrups and fashion new brake gear)

Pleased as punch that I have something to show this week, all the more so because someone else had a similar notion  :)

EDIT: also meant to say: nice article in Canadian Railway Modeller, Mike!

This one is fresh out the oven.

Thanks Tony for the decals! Carbon Limestone was a large quarry outside of Youngstown that supplied the steel mills.

Yeah, just like episode #28 'The City on the Edge of Forever'.  8)
