The sun is always on the ecliptic.   ;)

So true. I shoulda said "along the ecliptic". Oh well, there's always next year for the Nobel prize.

Alas, my planet is in retrograde in Ophiuchus.

Galesburg is awesome in its own right, but your WC layout has been a fav of mine, and has been very sorely missed. Used to hang out at the Burlington Wi depot while my daughter took gymnastics class down the road. Even saw me an SDL 39 on a southbound there once before they were exiled to Chile.

I enjoyed the WC as well.  The mainline was just over a half mile walk down the street from our house in Mukwonago.  I took lots of pictures back in the day around Burlington and Waukesha.  Made a few trips to Fond du Lac as well.  One day a loco was stopped and the engineer let my daughter up in the cab and let me take a picture of her.  It was a neat photo of my daughter in the cab with me in the reflection of the window.  I also enjoyed the MR series on the WC.

Burlington was a great spot indeed. With its depot, elevators, engine house, etc. its one of spots that screams "model me". Its no wonder MR chose it for their project railroad. I was a fan of the MR project RR as well. A friend and I railfanned the lower part of the "funnel" for 2 or 3 years. FDL was impressive, but we found the grade out around highway F to be even more impressive. We spent many evenings there watching trains. Another inspirational spot was Theresa station. Many evenings at the Burger King parking lot in Sussex too catching trains before the drive back home.

We were originally going to model the funnel, but a trip to lines north seemed a better fit in many ways. Less is more.

I still say all my scenes are too "happy". Weathering needed.

That's it.  I'm done.  No way to top that.

Seriously Bill - thats both a great scene and great photography.

I worked at WC for many years. I've probably seen most of you railfanning the line. I still have many friendships from WC.

If you weather the 6582 don't forget the nasty burn marks I put on the carbody when I blew up the dynamic brake grids at the shop in Fond du lac. The doors on the firemans side were welded shut.
