Looks like I'm going fed-ex for now. The USPS has lost or destroyed the contents of 7 packages from or to me in the past few years.

I've has dozens of packages delivered by USPS and they never lost or damaged anything.  UPS has screwed up more than one package delivered to me.  I've never used Fedex to the house but have at work and they did mess up a government shipment (as I mentioned earlier).

David, I've got an idea.  Tell UPS that if they let you use their UPS symbol on models, you'll call it even.  Believe you could get your money back in decals and finished products in no time.

Gee David, your report about the JRB made me feel like I just took the butt end of a hockey stick square to the gut.   A few years back I had a "Tehachapi Earthquake" event myself.  I never totaled the damage (it was my own dumb fault anyway) but my models were not anything special -- quite the contrast to your awesome work.  Seems there's not much choice except to salvage where possible, and try not to become too discouraged over what cannot be salvaged.  Best of luck on your claim with the shipper.

One thing that you will always have is the knowledge of the inspiration that the JRB brought to all those who saw or read about it.  No amount of loss can ever take that part of it away.

I don't think there is any perfect shipper. It really depends on who handles it from truck to truck. We had one Fed Ex guy that I saw repeatedly stand on boxes in his truck to get a better view of the top shelf. I cringed every time he did it, and this guy was the owner of the route (Fed Ex sub contracts routes or districts out). Our new guy that he hired to handle the route is great though. Just another case where the boss can't do the job as well as his employee's.

Wow Mark that turned out awesome . You may want to look into a steam loco power reverse as a starting point for those zapper arms .

Epic! I already have a spot for it.  As well as anticipated spots for the others for the last year!
