I know there is a decent amount of older tooling with these schemes and after all it is a simple paint scheme to do yourself, but it would be nice to see some of these schemes on the intermountain hoppers and the exact rail and BLMA cars and how about an ESM 52'-6" gondola with these schemes and others. I guess what I'm saying is lets get these schemes in the higher end models. As far as locomotives go there's plenty in these schemes and the B&O F7A will be a great addition to my fleet.
Ummm... Just to put this out there....If you want a hard time, try modeling Soo Line
Most of the cars you quoted never wore C&O paint, thus the reason they were not produced.
That's not what you said, and all you're doing at this point is trying to obfuscate your original intent in order to save face. You stated outright that it is difficult to secure models decorated in C&O. To morph that into it being necessary to renumber equipment for any road to built a huge fleet as your original point is a stretch even for you. Most people, as Dave Foxx stated, do not amass prototypically-sized motive power fleets. Most if not all of the units you mention this last time HAVE been released in C&O livery by Atlas in multiple numbers - in at least two road numbers and many times three road numbers. For the "average" modeler who has a layout built in a spare bedroom, the C&O motive power that has been offered to date is MORE than adequate to fill any roster needs. Also, stop trying to twist the conversation to portray yourself as the victim of unfair criticism. It's unbecoming, and insulting. Multiple people in this thread have refuted your statements with FACTS. Take your medicine and move on.
I need not to take my medication and move on because I stated a well know fact that you twisted. Now once more. When modeling the C&O you will find the needrenumber and paint locomotives and freight carsI have said the above in every reply. Its a well known fact when you model the C&O.I stand by my facts gain through experience modeling the C&O.
Unittrain. The C&O had 4740's produced in an order along with B&O, all in the pre-Chessie, I think the C&O only had 100 all originally in the "For Progress" scheme.Larry, having been a C&O modeller (non-mountain) area's for quite awhile now. I can feel your pain. We have several other C&O N scale customers in the shop and one who models the largest portion of the C&O In one layout I have ever seen in 2000' square feet and over 3 levels. Hinton to Limeville, some of the branches and a big part of the Big Sandy and even a little of the Lexington Sub. I have to say that more C&O models have come out in the last 10 years than in all N scale history before that. Skipgear covered steam pretty well, but I'm not big into steam unless they did K2and K3 Mikes and the F17-19 Pacifics. Now if you look at diesels, the one big one I would die for is the AS616, can't model Cincinnati in the late 50's and 60's without 'em. DAMN!! Beyond that what hasn't been done. S2's by somebody else would be nice, Also missing NW2's and TR3's and 4's(not holding my breath on them). In road loco's, well there is the GP7 which is a pretty big need. Then the SD18 which is not gonna happen. Then comes the GP 40 and 40-2 which there were a fair amount of and last but not least the SD40 and then a fair amount of SD40's. As far as Alco's goes, the RSD7's and 12's would be a nice addition but there weren't many of them. The biggest letdowns have been the GE's. The U23B and U25B have been done well but the U30C's and B's have not been done. The B30-7's, well those are Chessie, C&O Chessie yes, but the C&O we all know and love, they were never in C&O Enchantment Blue and Yellow. Now for freight cars. Coal Hoppershave been very well covered by MTL, Athearn/MDC, Atlas and now Bluford. Grain HoppersThe only car covered so far is the Cylindrical hopper, we definately could use the PS4000's and 4750's and the ACF 4650's which could be a stand in for the prototypical 4600's and 4700'sOther Covered Hoppershave been pretty well covered although we could use the ex-D&H PS2003's and the Airslide's.Gondolas is definately a need. We have the 65 footers, the Atlas 40 footers and a run of the MTL 52 footers. NEED MORE, C&O served the stell industry big time.Flatcarshave been covered pretty well too from Red Caboose and Atlas but we could use the 85 footers.Autoracks are very much needed.Coil Cars.......a new run with either the gray hoods and C&O logo or the Blue hoods with yellow logo are VERY MUCH NEEDEDBoxcars Well overall it's been pretty well covered by the major manufacturer's and Bluford. We could use the MTL 60 footers ans some of the later ribside and waffleside's but that's it. Athearn is done for awhile, but thanks to Atlas and MTL we keep getting them form time to time.Cabeese VERY well covered with one exception, the distinctive C&O Wood Caboose. That would be nicePassenger CarsBaggage Cars The Wheels of Time Harriman roof cars were pretty much done by 65, but the soon to be out ACF Clerestory roof cars lasted until the very end of passenger service. We need Heavyweights but the ice has been broken on the streamliners but we do need Diners. Now I'm just speaking for the C&O. There are some needs but I just can't by the argument that "George Washington's" is neglected more than most. You are right that we can always use. I mean who really cares about "minor" roads like the Pennsy, Southern or Santa Fe.
And zillions of coal cars since Peach Creek was on the Logan Sub and Logan W.Va is in the coal fields..
