I just popped by BLMA website to check if the status of the F89J has changed yet. These things are due yet again. I just happened to notice the PS at the end of the Feb 27 reminder that they will be introducing a whole new car this month. Has anyone else seen that? Any guesses on what it is?

They are teasing it now officially. Blacked out picture in the blog. It is not a long flat car. The blob is not large enough compared to the car next to it in the pic.

Ok .. I will bite .. its a tropicana reefer .. the 3000 or 5000 series .. they already have an underframe .. they have the refrigerator units ..

Def not a Reefer.

Car is too short, there's not much overhang past the trucks, and there's a full-length roofwalk on it.

It's a covered hopper of some sort.  And something about the picture looks older -- so I'm gonna say something from the '70-80s.

What large hole in covered hoppers exist in n scale offerings? Not critical of anything, just interested.

For my needs, it's a 3600cf Dry-Flo, and  4500cf and 4700cf GATC covered hoppers.

I'll agree the the picture looks to be a hopper that doesn't have center hatches.

Maybe a Carbon Black Covered Hopper? Personally, I would be happy if they updated the 4740. They have used Tangent Scale models plans before for N scale stuff so that would fit. Also maybe Magor or Evans car.

In seriousness, carbon black car would also be a good guess and needed, but the roofwalk on the teaser shot is gray/silver and carbon black cars are generally black from what I've seen.
