Got the spine and cap down on modules 1 and 2.  Now onto modules 3 and 4 and them some foam to get it running for the first train show on Sept, 11.




Also started working on my friends 2' gauge railroad.  We are doing a complete overhaul and expansion.

I've been on a CB&Q streak lately. Here's my almost finished E5. Still have to add the window glass.

Nothing railroady for me yet, but I did just pull up all the tile, mortar bed, and metal lath in my master bath. All this means is I'm one step closer to finishing DIY projects and hopefully getting back down to the basement to work on the layout,

I made the top track angle less than the proto to save a little layout width, but everything else is "on" Ended up being 30x45".


I would be soooo much more ahead if I hadn't ran out of PC ties. Order is in the mail.

Today's PRR action takes place on the Wayside, PA branch.  As of today, one of the PRR's I1sa decapods has been be assigned to the daily local.  Here, the local pulls into the Wayside station.



After transferring freight from the boxcars and unloading the tank car at Eastern Chemical Co., the local heads into the tunnel at the edge of town.



This tunnel's purpose is to allow the line to begin climbing out of the valley.  Here, the locomotive emerges from the far side, with the town of Wayside in the distance.



Shortly afterward, after crossing a second bridge, the local disappears into the tunnel leading out of the valley.



Before the critiques begin on the crappy scenery, lousy masking jobs, code 80 rail, and decals peeling off the bridges, I need to give the following disclaimer:  This action takes place on the first N Scale layout that I ever built.



I built this in High School almost 15 years ago.  I built the table in wood shop, while simultaneously building the layout on a plywood base at home.  You should have seen everyone's faces when I brought the layout in to assemble the whole thing!  The scenery was secured with spray-on glue, and the layout has moved halfway across the country twice, which accounts for the scattered foam.  For the last several years, the central girder bridge has had a vertical kink in it.  I finally got in there today and tweaked it back into shape.  It's happily breaking in as I type.  (Or at least it was until one of the cars derailed...)

The curves are ridiculously tight and the grades are pretty steep order to fit the whole thing into the coffee table, so a short local is all that runs on this branch.  Of course, given a small size of the layout a short local looks about right.  The power for the layout was originally a heavy pacific that a bought in Strasburg.  (Little did I know at the time that it was a Minitrix K4!)  Since I graduated from college, the layout has been operated with an Minitrix SBB Crocodile, which was much more capable than the K4 on the grades.  As of today, it has been replaced with a Minitrix decapod.  Given that this is a novelty layout, I don't object to the rapido couplers, or the obvious inaccuracies with the I1s-almost.  Even so, one of these days, I really need to get in there and tear out and redo the scenery.

Finished a Pennsy and a NdeM caboose just a while ago. Started 6 new 40' 'chip car' 2 Wp, 3 Mil and a GN. Started  the tender of a Consolidation, Changing from coal to oil for the SP&S and pluggud widows on a caboose for sanding. will be a GN or SP&S, not sure yet.........

@Chris - that's one of my favorite track plans. I've had it on my "to do" list to scale it to N but could never find accurate drawings to scale. I'll be following with high interest.

@Eric - too bad my wife hates coffee tables or I'd ask for your specs.
