Back today from several weeks of holidays back East.  Finally got a video of the new scenery uploaded to Youtube (from min 2:30 to min 4:45 in the video below)


Next 3 weeks all of my spare time will be heads down getting the C&W ready for an invitational operating weekend Sept 9th - 11th.  Lots to finish before then!

That was the frustration for me.. the track was all in gauge, the wheels were in gauge, but I still had problems.  For the new switch I laid a straight piece of steel across it while the glue set, so make sure it didn't bow, or sag.   Seems to work fine.. although my IM FTB is still finicky.    ::)

What I found out by experimenting with them (Atlas Code 55 #5) is that even a smidgen too narrow can make a big difference.  And when I say smidgen, I mean I even took off my glasses so I can see the wheelsets that clearly as I matched them up to the NMRA gauge.   ;)

I've got a couple IM F7B's that act squirrelly on code 55 switches myself.  I had to adjust the gauge of the wheels several times to get them to go through smoothly.

No modeling for me, spent all of last week and this coming week to get ready to make the move to Milwaukee where I will take the reigns as Chief Information Officer of an Aviation MRO facility. I will be up in MKE for several months to prep the move of the corporate headquarters from Milwaukee down to South Florida. At least the travel time to TrainFest will be small !

Most new people relocate to the new company, I get to relocate the new company to my hometown.  ;D

Thanks guys.  The work is all Brian Stetz's.  He is one hell of a modeler.  It is real easy to take nice photos when the subject is really hot. 

Bob (traincat) check out the latest issue of RMC for a review of your team track crane.  That was one great kit.  It has found a home on an "Erie Guys" layout already.

First time doing scenery so I decided to make a small section to practice on before I made the leap of scenicing my layout.  Started this on Saturday and just finished putting some greenery and ballast on.  Will put trees on later.  Surprisingly easier than I had anticipated.  What do you guys think?

Looks groovy!
The rocks are a bit uniform in color across the board.
Try some washes.
On the talus, too.

Otherwise, you're just missing the obligitory bottle of beer in the background ;)
