Understood. My plan of attack has been to go thru in waves, adding more scenery/detail in each pass. Problem is, with 300+ linear feet of scenery it takes a while to make each pass.

Sounds like I'll have to get out that way.  Where precisely do you live?

The Norfolk Southern Historical Society will be meeting in Oakboro on the 16th; if you want I can get an agenda and tell Rob to expect you for lunch.  Afterwards I may wind up in Concord for a day or so.

As for the wires,
If you’re going for a diorama/display, contest or photo shoot, then the wires are a must.   I think the wires look awesome and add a lot of detail!

In which case I think the Charcoal color would look better as it does not stand out as much as the green does.  Unless one could tone the green down with some sort of weathering powders or chalks a bit.

On a working layout though, unless the wires were out of harms ways, and even though they stretch,  my thoughts would be that after a couple of times repairing them from a good hand swipe >, I would be inclined rip them out and go back to bare poles due to the aggravation .

I’ve seen numerous layouts/modules where they’ve used typical thread for wires and as time moves on the dust begins to cling, before long you have wires that look as if a flock of white birds that are perched on the lines.  Maybe the EZ line won’t attract as much dust or as easily as thread.

Dave how did you attach the wires to the cross arms?   Did you just loop them from one pole to the next or did you glue them in place?

Guys, seriously, I think you're all underestimating the amount of stretch these wires have.  I may have to post a pic to show you; there's almost no way to bump them loose.

The ends are anchored by ACC, but the majority are loop-arounds.  Every 3-4 poles it may help to add a little ACC.

EDIT:  This is not a full yank.  Notice how the telephone poles aren't even deflected.  I'm with ya on the green being too green, but this is more than flexible enough for anyone in my opinion.

 I seen somewhere a picture today, of someone using a pencil and pushing the wires down, but not near as much as what your pulling on them!
And you're right....the poles aren't even bent!

Dave, I like the gray. If you look in photos, pole lines (besides ruining many photo angles) always just seem to be "dark" against the background. I think the gray or even black works best for this. The green makes them too attractive to the eye to look at.

And yeah, EZ Line is the shiz-night.

We've been working on adding an upper level.  Here are some pictures of the shelf grid to this point.  There are two lift outs incorporated into the shelving.  One for the breaker panel and one for the water main.  A helix is used to go between the two levels.

I have seen the demos of ez-line at the Springfield train show for years.  My only concern is how UV resistant the product is and whether it will become brittle in a few years.

I just used my EZ Line for tie downs on the wrecked caboose project after the roll sat in a drawer for 3-4 years so I can't speak to the UV issue but it was not brittle in the slightest.

I could probably launch this car across the room with it.  Actually, maybe I should try that to inflict a little more random damage. ;D

Why do I keep thinking you're giving your layout a wedgie.

What I want to do is hit some sewing stores and see if I can find this product in its home environment.  Obviously this is something that should be available in bulk that is simply repackaged in small quantities for the choo choo set...

My only concern is how UV resistant the product is and whether it will become brittle in a few years.

UV should be a concern for a great many things besides the rubber wire. UV will fade most scenery materials and some paints, and discolor some water-making materials.

If you're using fluorescent lights, it's advised to slip on UV filter sleeves. If you have large windows, get UV filter sheets for them.
