The UP 105 is the next attempted hat trick . It was retired in 1951 . This shot is from Callaway Neb in 1946 when the walkways took a step down in the front . The loco was shopped sometime between 1947 and 1950 and at that time the walkways were reconfigured to go straight from mid boiler to the end of the smokebox . It is that last version I will model , and as far as I can tell that's the only noticeable change I can see .  I can't show those photos as the copyright men in black will come and get me . This is shot which is used in many books and I have purchased a dup negative of .. I think that gives me some rights , maybe no .

My first attempt at a clearstory roof ended with a failure in the jig I had constructed.  I think the way I engineered the roof will work, I just need to re-engineer the jig.

I've also started work on an HO C628.

I started 'The SD38-2 proJect', I will build six EJ&E SD38-2 in the next two weeks (I hope...  ;) ) with road numbers #656, #660, #662, #664, #666 and #668 'The Bicentennial' one...

so far I did detail the cab roofs...

the yellow cab is for #668 which will be built on a early Kato, all other numbers will be built on the mid production Kato with ditch lights...

how I proceed can be followed here:  http://dieseldetailer.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=pro1&action=display&thread=7942

I haven't posted in a long time and have finished up a few projects.  First a wrecked Milwaukee Road Bay Window Caboose.  Bought it already smashed but unpainted on the Bay several years ago so the smashing is "all natural".

When I kitbashed two of the new Kato towers to double the height I had a top and bottom leftover so bashed the ubiquitous (at least in the Midwest) Walgreens.  I've run out of real estate so I'll sell it next weekend at our local train show.

Finally finished the Traincat autocarrier that I bought from Bob last November at Trainfest in Milwauke.

And lastly, my long-awaited (like 35 years in N scale long) Hiawatha.

COMING

AND GOING

Best regards,

Roger

Finished the under frame and got the painting done on my "Grove" series car. Still needs grab irons, diaphragms, windows and decals.

Dug out a box I almost forgot about...  Good news Phil, out of two, I have created one...

The decoder with the dual LED's was toast.  Also had to tinker with the drive to fix some slipping gears.  All better.

The grading crews were busy during Spring Break.  The roadbed has been laid through Tremblay on the upper deck:

Surveying crews are now working from the east switch at Tremblay on towards the Kiskatinaw River.

That's just fantastic.... I have some Mil Rd sides and I'm taking a tutorial off this for my project. What Armour yellow did you use? What mixture....what adhesive did you use to adhere the strips, what size are they......will you come up to Peterborough and airbrush my sides and what brand of beer need I buy to make this happen....opps...maybe that was asking too much ? ;D

Nice work !
Model railroading isn't saving my life, but it's providing me moments of joy not normally associated with my current situation..... Train are good!

Went to a train show in Mobile, AL...  Bought 300 feet of EZ-line (200' of oxidized copper color and 100' of gray).

How many folks are sick of seeing my bare line poles?

Yeah, me too.

Had a rare wide open Saturday afternoon yesterday and the weather was crummy - great for model trains.  It's amazing what a little paint and ground cover will do for a scene.  Painting the pcb ties helps too.

After

I also finished the trunout throw operators earlier in the week.

I'm anxious to see how it goes Dave.  I've got that job to do also at some point.  I look forward to your updates.
