Got an e-mail from Trainworx this morning about Pullman Standard 85 foot multi purpose flat cars and UPS 40ft Drop Frame Parcel Trailers.   Pretty great news!

Sorry, posted the link to the PDF.   Additional info from the e-mail:

"The [85ft flat] car will be available in a fish belly version and straight sill version.  These cars will come ready to run with body mounted Micro-Trains couplers and Fox Valley metal wheel sets.  First run will be the Trailer Train yellow fish belly car in 6 road numbers."

Nice try to influence the content of the google ads. Too bad it didn't work!

Best wishes, Dave

Been on many wish lists for a long time.  MT could have done a lot of reissues of their 89 footer, and actually, I expect they will now, to max out sales before the newer, better version comes on line.  Only question is, will Con Cor try to do the same?

I love the UPS trailers. Not sure I could afford too many at nearly $16 retail, or $13 discounted.  Two per car doubles the cost of the train!

I got the email too and am wondering if this is the P-S F85b built in the late 50s through the 60s? Or something else, considering it's not marketed as such.

Would be nice to know what the flat is made out of - metal for max weight?  Sounds like the wheels and couplers are made for nice running.

So, anyone care to give the "Cliff's Notes" version of the era-appropriatness for the 85ft cars and the various UPS schemes?   (I model 1999 +/- 3 years or so, and a line where UPS stuff was plentiful.)   I know most of the info about the drop trailers is in one my Model Intermodal guides.

It says F-85-B on the artwork.

Based on the artwork in the PDF, it is an F85-B, built in November 1963, serviced in November 1973.  This is excellent news, and it will be nice to integrate into in a TOFC consist with the BLMA F89-J flats.

I have seen the proofs on this car and it is styrene with a cast underframe. The car is slightly heavier than the MT 89'er. This car is out of the ballpark. the details are beautiful. Don't miss out on this car!
