Always great modelling.

I made some progress with scenery along the fascia and putting down the first coat of gloss on the lake

One side of the peninsula is starting to look like something:

Ballast is next.  I've had success dying WS ballast with paint to get a nice range of tones.

Built the bridge for that scene and it is in the paint shop.  Trying out the salt weathering in Tom Mann's book- the top coat goes on tonight!

Cheers

Origonally built this for use on a NTRAK module back in 1995.

Re discovered it last Saturday and was surprized at how good a condition it was in except for the roof and one personel door missing.I replaced the roof and I will replace the door and it will set with my MEGA sized elevator on my under reconstruction layout. ;D

As a benefit of being a smoker (former smoker now) the core of this building was made from CAMEL flip top boxes.

have been working on the bridge for 5-6 weeks. Had the Fox Valley Division NMRA (Palatine, Il.) show this past weekend as the stimulus for finishing the bridge & abutments for the Mini-Modutrak setup at the show. Tower A-20 on the Chicago  -Milwaukee main has been done since Trainfest last fall, but the bridge has been about 2 years in the making. Glad to finally have all but the weathering done!
Rick

Looking northwards, the Northbrook station would be a half mile or so beyond tower A-20 at Techny Il

Looking south from Northbrook, Il towards Glenview with the freight bypass from Bensenville coming in from the right, and the C&NW bridge over the Milwaukee's main line in the distance behind tower A-20(Techny Il.). At one time, a commuter shelter stood in between these two structures where the Cambell Express truck waits for train to pass.

Visited the Conrail Historical both at the Greenberg train show. (They had a nice setup btw) Wasn't looking for a Conrail Autorack per say, but how could one resist (especially when the wife said just buy it)

Looks like it will fit in perfect

but its 2011 and its being pulled by..eh….um… CSX Gevo. Now I need to roster a CR unit and make this a legit scene. unitl then, I'm sure I'll be forgiven...

David , you could change the G&D to Gorey and Dismembered and have spin on Lee's idea , with gondolas full of body parts . Or not .

And just so Bob knows I wasn't slacking off today when I didn't make it to St. Denis...

Still needs some trim work and a little electrical tuning, but I'm one step closer to having an ops session!  And to further confound and amaze, this is what else it can do...

Cool bridge! This the one?

^ That's the one.

I grew up a mile from that junction and spent many a evening with my Dad watching the Rohr Turbo Train through there, and various Milwaukee, Soo and CP freights.

Rick's got it pretty dead on.   8)

Rick,

What a great looking bridge and another iconic scene to add to the layout. I love the wide open spaces...reminds me of a the good old days before the area was overrun with Bears fans.  ;)

Best wishes, Dave (Cheesehead in exile)
If you lend someone $20, and never see that person again, it was probably worth it.

It's actually a model railway ode to Lee's beloved Ravens.........."on the rails and then off a cliff.........."

(Says the life long Packers fan........yea baby)    ;D
Model railroading isn't saving my life, but it's providing me moments of joy not normally associated with my current situation..... Train are good!
