I think they fit in MTL boxcars too.  Must be a 3-way conspiracy.

Maybe one subcontractor does those floors for all three companies..

The ER car's rungs don't stick out so far from the stiles, so they arn't as thick.  I'm sure yours are a literal translation of the engineering drawings, but the appearance is that they are thicker because they're much deeper.

I thought you meant thickness... not depth, I see what you're saying though... the deeper depth makes them look thicker.  I guess we'll just have to go to separate grabs then :P

With the draft angle, a deeper part that starts out at the same thickness, is thicker the deeper you go, no?  Regardless, separate grabs will solve the issue and give you the best looking model around.  8)

Gets real expensive quickly, especially with open and covered hoppers.  Lots of free-standing wire grabs inserted into vertical plastic posts with thin profiles.

I was weathering a few cars today and I noticed the Trainman 50 box and FVM boxes appear to share the same underframe. The only difference is method of jointing the metal weight and the words "Atlas" stamped on the Trainman car.

Just curious, I know Atlas does most of their own design work and I thought FVM does too. Do the manufacturers in China also provide template parts that manufacturers can borrow or rent? I would understand it if IM had the same underframe because they already share parts with Atlas. But FVM? Wierd.

Completely different factories Dan. Matt does his thing, we do ours. Conspiracy averted.  8)

Conspiracy averted.

There will always be conspiracies. It takes more than facts to stop a good delusion.  ;D ;D ;D ;D

Eh, he wasn't biting, so I figured I'd squash the conspiracy theory. I'm just waiting for someone to say that we share circuit boards with Lionel in our N-scale engines...

I thought you used circuit boards from LGB in your N scale stuff.  :P

No, that would be Bachmann sharing decoders with Lionel.

Actually I heard Cory at Atlas say at a show once that they use Lionel circuit boards in their n-scale locomotives.
