Tender notwithstanding, heck, I don't care......That loco is darn intriguing!!!

Thanks Bachmann!!!!  This loco has oodles of potential for both runners and modelers/kitbashers. At the suggested price discussed here, it leave clear consiences making tender swaps or mods, but I know I will own several within 6 months of issue, and most will be weathered out of the box runners. 

Still looks good to me.  I just hope it runs almost as good as the Consolidation!!!!
or even the Mountains......

This throws a monkey wrench into my plans.

Here I am, thinking I have the decision choice wittled down to the Seaboard Air Line, Erie-Lackawanna 1964, and somewhere out mid west on the B&O.

Then comes along this, a smaller sized 10 wheeler....

This now becomes a problem, as I was kicking around the idea of modeling the small and defunct Tuckerton Railroad. 4-4-0's are already available in N scale IIRC, and now this will surely fit the bill with some slight mods for "Good ole #7"...

This just isn't fair or right... I need a icon showing me banging my head against the desk...

I think the suggested retail has been $150 right from the get-go.

I thought the "street price" was very reasonable, given that it's a steamer with built-in decoder.

I can't remember, but I thought the reserve price at BLW was around $70-80. Now it is $95:

It is reported on the "A" forum that the January 2011 MR has a review on this locomotive and is stating that the model has a coreless motor w/flywheel.  Anyone have a Jan 2011 MR?

Oh, I don't know.  It could be very significant.  Does someone use a coreless motor for the trainset crowd?  Maybe Backmann has found that small motor they were seeking for their Decapod.   Bachmann has also released the DCC equipped 2-8-0.  This on top of the 44 ton and 70 ton switchers, not to mention the Peter Witt streetcar.   I think it means something.

If it does have a coreless motor, that is huge.

The fact the MR says it does, means nothing.  We'll have to wait until some actually cracks it open.
