Seeing as no one else started one... What's new?

Finally finished a few PAR/GRS units.
The PAR unit got paint and ditch lights, and the GRS units are factory paint with ditch lights installed.

I made another Z scale Shay crankshaft. Some of the regulars are scratching their heads, now. Why another one? And why does this one not look as good as the last one? Because it's about 20% smaller. The other one was only sort of close; this one is just about on the money (compare: the crankshaft diameter of the other one scaled up to 4.5 inches, and this one is 3.25, very close to being correct). I'll probably be making one more to try and refine its appearance.

Building a shay?

Catching on. Actually, not just "a" shay, but Ely Thomas #6, which is 3' narrow gauge.

No pics, but I've been refining my PRR 1956-era hopper fleet.

Most had been poorly and over-weathered.  So, to the extend I could strip the weathering, I reapplied much more subtle weathering.  I've also gone back and aded low-pro wheelsets and painted trucks, couplers, and wheel faces.  Lastly, I standardized the coal loads by glueing Woodland Scenics mine run coal over the various plastic and plaster loads I'd been using.

Of course, after seeing what DKS is doing I may as well toss all my stuff in the trash.  Clearly, I can't hang. ;D

Well, aside from my layout stuff, I also spent yesterday helping out at the CRHS's Ride the Rails for Cancer event: http://thecrhs.org/events/Ride-the-Rails-for-Cancer-2010

One of the great reasons to commit your time to something like this is the opportunities that volunteering affords you. For example, getting to hang around in the cab of an ALCO T6.

Sounds like a good reward there Ed.

I managed to get a new well car yesterday for my camera car - now need some mtl sized FVM wheels for it since mine are boxed up back in the UK, plus decided to make a small layout for the small apartment I have, probably 8"x6' initially.

Probably going to need an undec GP9, Ph2 w/o db so if anyone has one to sell, please let me know.

I also completed my jigsaw 1000pcs of 3 NYC Hudsons.
